Root rooting or changing roms affect call signal?

And do I run it just like the 3g turbo boost or do i have to switch names and unzip and all the extra shit?
this was over at the xda forums
Installing/Using:

1. Download the attached V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt script and save to your sdcard.
... Do NOT run the V6 SuperCharger install script at boot!
2. Load the script (V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt) into Script Manager and select "Run as Root."
3. Touch the screen for the soft keyboard or slide out the keyboard and get SuperCharged! Just pick an option!
4. READ the script's output!
5. Afterwards, READ the html HELP FILE in the root of your SD Card!
6. Disable "Lock Home in Memory" if your ROM has this option.
7. Optional: For a quick status check, you can put a Script Manager widget for V6 SuperCharger on you desktop

heres the link [Script][U9 Beta 6.1] V6 SuperCharger! The ONLY Android MEMORY FIXER! 3G & KAK! - xda-developers

no you do not have to unzip run it like 3g turbo booster

Requirements:
1. Rooted Phone. Milestoners, you can use Universal Androot (not in market ?)
2. Script Manager or Terminal Emulator to run the script. Stock ROMs can also use SM to load up boot scripts!
3. Busybox 1.18.2 OR LOWER - 1.18.3 or newer are VERY much a hassle with errors that should NOT be errors!
4. AutoStart Script by me

- Enables Stock ROMS (Milestone) to utilize etc/init.d for boot scripts.

use these links if you want, very helpful.

I did notice that after i flashed the new ROM and kernel combo after root, my signal got a little wacky. For the first time I can remember I saw the 1X, logo displayed alot more often than before, but that can just be the area I am In at that time. I did install the 3G turboboost and my internet d/l speed regardless of how many bars I have is a lot faster, almost WiFi fast. As far as my phone signal haven't noticed any difference, but I am in ny and the only time service sux, IS in the subway or basements where I work, but other than that I would say try out the 3g turbo boost or there is a thread on how to improve 3g speeds...might help....also since having the sense 3.0 the signal is little more accurate I guess, I have not had 5 or 6 bars since installing the turboboost but my speeds are crazy fast, I thought that was funny....can't quite remember if that was the case before i started tweaking the phone....I can say that i did try to help out my 3G speeds through that the directions on that thread and it did more worse than good, speeds actually got slower,"if It aint broke don't try to fix it", but i guess im like everyone else and want as much customization as possible and am always Curious to see if i can improve my current phone situation.....SORRY FOR THE LOOOONG REPLY, I'M ALL JACKED UP ON MOUNTAIN DEW!!!:eek:

I've noticed I been getting the 1X ALOT more frequently lately as well..I stumbled upon a hack by typing *#*#INFO#*#* on my dial pad a few weeks ago. Clicked on "phone" and toggled under "Set preferred network type" to GSM/CDMA auto PRL. I thought by changing it back to CDMA auto (PRL) I'd fix it back but I really dont know. Can someone check to see what the default setting is. I'm really trying to figure out why the 1X started popping up so much. Someone at my job has the same phone and I compared. No 1X and he never sees it (he's not rooted)..Somethings up..

Thanks!

akazabam says it best in this post:
Okay, let's see if this clears it up a little bit. In Sense, you have a certain number of signal bars, usually more than four. You *can* just edit the pngs to have fewer (four for example), but the system still has to be configured to use only that number. That being said, the signal you see in a Sense ROM includes only what you need for voice (1x). I'm sure you've heard before that Sense ROMs don't tell you if you're actually connected to 3g or not. Basically, they show a 3g icon all the time if you're connected, whether it's actually 3g or not. This is not factored into the signal. On an AOSP ROM, the signal you see factors in 3g, which will always make it look lower, when in reality, it's just more accurate of your real connection. Once you lose 3g, your signal will look way lower than on a Sense ROM, and it will actually tell you that you're no longer on 3g. This is what I was referring to, mainly, and doesn't really make the number of signal bars much of an issue.

now this was during froyo rom days. now days the sense roms have now incorporated what the aosp roms were doing in showing true signal strength. so what you are seing now is more of an acurate reading pf what you signal strenght is. your rooted phone and an unrooted phone will show different signals. your rooted phone may show 1x vs the unrooted will still show 3g.

if you want to read the whole discussion here is the thread:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/320204-signal-bars.html#post2590684

they are pretty much very similar but with te v6 you have more options to tweek the script if you want. the other one you just run it and you are good to go.

all this is news to me. do you have a link or something? not sure on the get out of contract for free? sounds kind of fishy for me.

Get out of your HTC EVO contract, ETF-free

There's the link, and I can confirm that they will in fact let out ETF free as they offered to let me out. Which I am really thinking about it since Verizon is launching 4g in my city in less than a month. But if the rumors are true that sprint is going to improve it's 3G speeds, I'll stick with them.
