Root Rooting Problem: "Internal Error: am reported error starting service"

RFunk

Lurker
I have been trying to root my phone (CDMA HTC Desire with US Cellular as the carrier) using the latest version of Unrevoked (Ver 3.31) and have had a few problems thus far.

I've installed the Android Bootloader Interface driver on the phone and got Unrevoked to recognize the phone but then it gets stuck and displays the error mentioned in the title of this thread...

Does anyone know what might be my problem??

Also, sorry if my question's already been answered as I'm definitely a newbie but a quick learner!

Here is my Recovery information if it's any help:

Assuming that you've rebooted both and uninstalled HTC sync, next step maybe try the older version of unrevoked

Yep, both have been rebooted (a few times) and no Sync. I'll try to find an old unrevoked when I get back to my place later.

Thanks for the suggestion...

if you have anything like droid explorer installed make sure you stop the service in windows services
there are other device managers that have adb.exe in your processes aswell so make sure they are uninstalled or disabled

Kryten - I'm having trouble accessing the prior rev's of Unrevoked. May I ask where you found a copy of 3.21? Thanks!!

I was having the same problem.

On a Vista pc the error I was getting was "is your firmware too new" and on XP I was getting the error message above.

Just downloaded 3.2.1 and it worked fine.

thanks for the tip
