Root Rooting Problem: Superwipe

quick question can you flash a rom and a kernel togather

ok just to make sure that it is understood. all roms comes with its own kernel cooked in. it is usually just the stock kernel(you will need to read the op of the rom to be sure). if you want to flash a custom kernel you should do it separately.

this is how i flash roms and kernels:
1.make a nandroid backup
2.wipe
3.flash the rom
4.reboot and sign in
5.(if everything is working) boot into recovery
6.(optional) make another nanroid backup (just in case you do not like the kernel)
7.wipe dalvik cache and cache
8.flash the kernel
9.reboot

this way if there is any issues you can easily troubleshoot whether it is a rom issue or a kernel issue.

technically you can flash both the rom and kernel in the same recovery session. if something was to go wrong, then you will have difficulty on determining if it was a bad flash from either the rom or the kernel.

my way you can easily troubleshoot if things were to go wrong.

since i have the reloaded rom do i have to reflash the rom too or just the kernel

no no my steps for the initial install of both rom and kernel. if you already on a rom then you can flash the kernel at any time. so feel free to flash the mason kernel any time you feel like it.
