Root Rooting question

I'm trying to do the step by step process of complete newbies guide and whenever I go to type in adb reboot fastboot I get error: device not found. Im on windows 8 am I doing something wrong? Is there an extra step? Help appreciated

I'm not an Evo V 4G guy, but I do think the adb issue you are seeing could either be that USB debugging is not enabled or maybe a USB driver issue (especially if Windows 8 is involved).

I'm sure the other folks that own this device will chime-in, but thought I'd mention just in case.

There's a good guide for installing the drivers and ADB/fastboot for Windows 8 on XDA.
