Root Rooting the Metro 2.2 froyo update

atm you have to be stock and get it thru the metro app store. I am working on rooting and cleaning it up then making a update zip from it for those who dont wannna or cant manage to flash to stock.

thank you for letting me know, flashing back to stock now, By chance do you think you can link me for the rooting software. Thank you for letting me know pg!!
 
after instaling the 2.2 update from metro pos i am unable to root using z4root also phone is acting weird if i tap power twice to bring it to the lock screen often times it just shows icons at the top of the screen and the rest is black im going to try and restore my back up of 2.3.4 hopefully thats still an option god i hate metro

ok thats a no go cwm is gone and power vol up end call brings me back to the update and installs it again

you have to use gingerbrake to root 2.2.2 for metro...
 
Ok well after a lot of trial and error here is how to delete the Bloatware!

I used RootExplorer. Change it from R/O to R/W and you can then use TIBU or whatever program you like even RootExplorer to go in and delete all the Metro Bloatware!

Seems Metro hard coded everything to Read Only, so you have to change it to Read Write, and then all is good...

BTW Gingerbreak 1.1 is the only app i found that will root this sucker..
 
im rooted now but bloatware will not come off it says apk could not be found and cannot remove system file is there somthing ellse i didnt hear about lol?

im been fooling with this pos 2.2.2 since this am, lol, was going to try and use the oc kernel from cm6 and see if it works.
 
I was able to remove several things that i didnt want using rootexplorer, however i am having a hard time finding all the metro stuff to remove. I am going tot he following path in rootexplorer - SYSTEM/APP/ ......... was able to remove - News and weather app, Documents to Go, IM and Social, M Studio and E-mail (not gmail nor metro email).

Any help finding the metro crap installed is appreciated, also want to remove UNO, LOOPT, VIRTUAL CARD, TOP GAMES, MY EXTRAS, POCKET EXPRESS, METRO 411, METRO BACK UP.

Okay i found the partition on RootExplorer under CUST/METROPCS
However that folder and all the apps are Read only, it is the only folder that cannot be switched to Read n Write. Any Ideas?
