Root rooting with hbootb .93

You read all the faqs? Does it say pvt4? There are a few threads about this. I will run a search for you (using "hboot 93" as the search string) when my cold hands are at a computer.

Edit..

Managed it on my phone

Hope these are helpful

Thanks for the links.
I tried rooting using unrevoked method. I was unsuccessful, at the end of the process there was errors. I forget to write it down, but anyways i'll try once again.

boot to hboot and tell us what it says at the top pvt1 2 3 or 4

Hi,

Here is the error at the end of the whole process:

Clockworkmod recovery v2.5.0.7

E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:

That is the error message. It is below the options for restart system, backup, etc...

Thanks!

I see. So where do I get this special clockworkmod? How do I use it?
Does every pvt version have different clockworkmod?

I'm using the phandroid app so I can't search. Its on xda developers desire section under general I think.

Its only the new pvt4 devices that need their own special version as they have a different nand chip and a different erase size

Exactly. Not all pvt4 devices need this. I've got a pvt4 which is ok with the old method. And they're saying soff is still not possible.

And here's the link. Read the thread before flashing.

Does this mean that unrevoked method will work on pvt4 devices? You see I tried unrevoked method and after all the process there are this errors as posted on previous thread. Upon checking my apps I see a "superuser permissions" icon on All apps. Does this mean i'm already rooted?

Also, would titanium backup work on rooted device with stock rom?

its explained in that thread if you read it. It shows your exact error which means you are using one of the new devices with a 40000 erase size

now im rooted! next step is to flash a custom rom, but im too afraid to do it. it might render my phone unusable. I know that my fon is using a brand new nand chip as what you guys mentioned. what are the considerations in flashing custom rom? like, if I do a flash should i also change the radio? What if the rom does not support the nand chip?

Only flash a radio if you have to. I'm guessing you don't have to. As long as you pick a rom that was written for the Desire you should be fine. What rom were you you thinking of? Are your HD?
