Root Rooting without a USB cable using Unrevoked..

What is the right way to go about rooting a Dinc with Unrevoked, but without a USB cable to attach it to a PC? Should I download Unrevoked directly to my phone? Also, Ive tried going into recovery mode, but a phone image with a red triangle and exclamation point appears.. Basically, what steps should I take to root without a USB and fix recovery?

You NEED a usb cable, there is no way to do it without one.
Unrevoked is a program that needs to be ran on a computer.
Ps, how are you charging your phone if you don't have a usb cable?

my dad owns an evo 4g, not that technically inclined especially to terms like rooting etc. I tried helping him via remote teamviewer while we talk on the phone.
