Root Rooting

I think my phone has been infected by an virus, is it safe to root my phone in this condition ?

why do you said that your phone has a virus? whats the condition o your phone? laggy ?

yup it gets a lot laggy, even through sometimes when i type and the letters are printed after i had wrote the whole sentence .. and sorry for the late reply pal my exams had been over this week .. and also net wasn't working

Android is based on Linux and hence it cannot be caught by any virus ..
its just the marketing sunt that a few anti virus companies use to show that android can get viruses in real sense

as for the phone being laggy,
you must have installed a damn amount of apps !
also many of them must be residing in the ROM
check in (settings>applications>running services")

Also , it should be ok to root though but
hey ! do read the disclaimer located in the ATR sticky ...
for risks involving in rooting your device ...
