Ok so i have decided to move to gingerbread.

So im going through the process of sbf'ing back to stock 340.

When i use to try doing this the start button never "lit" up. well i got all files and did all fixes. And when my phone isnt in the bootloader and just running normally and i hit show device it pulls up the droid x. But when i have it in bootloader. The start button is lighting up and i can click it. Yet it wont run anything. and when i click show device it does nothing.

Any one got an idea?

you have the correct sbf file?

I think so. I followed all the guides to get the right one. Got a link to the one you say is the right one? My bootloader is 30.04

Sorry for double post. But heres my phones info.

ApeX 1.4.1

System version 340

sbf file being used VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf

Ok i lied lol. When i click show device its not showing device. Any ideas on this?

Sorry for the confusion.

When i plug the phone into the laptop when it is on normally it pops up a big thing saying droid x with all my photos calls and such. So i know my laptop recognizes it.

Is there any settings in the phone i need to change. Like what setting it the usb mode should be on. debugging. And such.

i looked into that. And from what i can see they are wanting me to sbf gingerbread. how do i do this to make it go back to stock 2.2?

Or am i reading the post wrong? Im all confused. No more drinking before noon for me!

lol good idea!

The first file is the one you want, it will take you back to stock .340.

Then you can, re-root, then install the 2 part update to get the pre-rooted GB or get the OTA (no root) from your phone.

Sounds like a driver issue. Do you have the updated drivers?

yeah i have all the drivers. And ok. Ill work on doing the linux thing now.

ooo i c what i did there. Lol. I thought you needed both files lol. Didnt realise they were two dif things. Ok ill do that and let yall know.

The RSD lite will not recognize your device if it is running, you have to be in bootloader mode (white text, bootloader message, etc.) for it to notice your handset.
Once you have it and all the drivers are up-to-date and installed, it should work just fine

Yeah i had it in the bootloader. It just wouldnt work.

I used to sbf my og Droid all the time. So i am pretty familiar with rsd.

Hell i still prefer my droid1. But when i got the x i loaned it to my kid brother and he managed to shatter the screen. By standing up in school and hitting it on his desk while it was in his pocket......

I dont get it... I dropped it off a two story roof and nothing happened to it. Had someone whip it through a window. And it was fine. Then he bumps it??? Lol. I heard at first they had gorilla glass. And after the second time it got hurt. I had random reboot problems and took it back and im guessing they stopped using gorilla? Lol.

End of rant.

But im still working on the linux. We had a major storm last week and the internet is still out. So im trying to tether to get everything i need to get to gingerbread.

And its taking a little while. Lol. Then i have to find a comp that will let me boot from a flash drive lol.

Ill keep everyone updated.

ok on a final note. i forgot that i still had my old school desktop running xp boxed up in the basement.

So i just hooked it all back up and sbfed. Lol. Doing the two part update now. Then ill be installing apexrc2. thanks for all the help guys.

Greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you had old drivers or an out of date version of RSD Lite on the computer you were trying with originally.

I realize it is a little late, but I really like this How To SBF guide. It has all the needed information and files right there making it a one stop resource. Of course the biggest problem I see with people is when they choose the wrong SBF file. Generally people use a "system only" version when they really need to use the "full system" version when trying to go to GB.

I went ahead and made a flash drive for that very same scenario, anywhere I go, if I can borrow a computer, I can SBF and fix whatever goes bad, that will be invaluable when I go to New York this July and won't have my computer with me.
