Help Rumored

1. I would still like to see an exact definition of 'fair use' re the $70 plan.

Anyhow, tthey'd be much better off just leaving their present plans intact albeit at either 'at 4g LITE speeds' if necessary, and/or with the Data portion uncoupled....then adding:

2. the present proposed plans at full 4g

and/or

2a. separate tethering plan addons at different levels.

IF Fair Use turns out to be BS, then i'm out of here.
It would then make absolutely NO SENSE to accept substandard phones / no tablets.

I don't understand how so many corporate suits seemingly lack basic marketing, business growth & economic supply demand principles.
It goes to what's basically wrong with the system in our country today:

just as in the case of our illustrious previous leader, their high-priced secondary education was a total waste..
likely a big blur of beer keg, illegal chemical and girls gone wild frat parties...while still managing to barely graduate, albeit in the hock to repay 6/7 figure debts, so now off the bat income and prices have to be artificially high to repay everything.
They got hired because of family connections or the bosses in turn went thru the same rituals at the same alma maters in their day.

Merit and skills completely thrown out the window.
They then get to run big corporations into the ground, receive golden parachutes and get appointed or elected to high office.
Connect the dots:
So now, whether you go into Best Buy, Walmart, your local Airport, school or big building(be it private or government)...you and/or your belongings get frisked.

Hhhmmm......

I laugh everytime I go on there.I got kicked off and cant comment for directing people to the All Things Root section...Yet people can go on there and "scream" METRO SUCKS! and F METRO and basically troll the page Ahahahaha
I think, or at least feel like, i'm the only person in the world who not only never joined Facebook, has never visited it.
I wonder what i'm missing....

I'm not paying $70, I don't care how fast it is. I'll just go back to their cheap basic plans, I still got one of the basic phones, I'll use it, screw them like they screwed me.

Your still paying them so I don't think you will be screwing them. lol

Just messin with ya. :D

I would have to agree with Fuzzy on this one here, you aren't screwing them. A. You are still paying them and B. I highly doubt they are going to get upset because someone on AF is still using a bardic phone and paying the little plan pricing. Just my
opinion but we will see if metro changed things around because you are paying as little money add possible... Who knows, one man can change a company and you might be that man no matter if you are a customer or not

Didn't say I would be changing anything did I nope thank you so there stick it. lol

Just to be sure you know, I'm just joking with my comment. after i posted it and then read it and though it come off as being a dick.

Oh, I figured, no worries LoL. I was just making sure you understood what Fuzzy was saying. No big dealio. But back to your last comment, the "lol" was there so no worries

Wait Im confused. Does simple web browsing now add to the the limit of these new 4G plans or am I misunderstanding?

That's just terrible. I've only been a MetroPcs customer for 2 years. In those 2 years the only thing that bothered me was their lack of phone choices and they have recently fixed that problem. But for them to bring this out has really dissapointed me.

Here comes the throttling. You know they are going to do that. I've been a customer since 2003 and i've put up with every thing from them but recently they did two things that has me considering dropping them.I have three lines with them and one has the unlimited international calling for $10 extra which is why i really stayed. I call Trinidad and Tobago everyday but they (METRO PCS) cut calling there on April 4 2012. Now they are raising the unlimited LTE plan to $70 and throttling or capping the "$60 unlimited LTE plan" and i don't think the loyal customers will be grandfathered in. These companies are now starting to get very greedy like Netflix. Like every thing else in this country "We the people" or Customer satisfaction don't mean anything anymore when greed steps in. 2 strikes Metro one more and i'm out. Lets hope they do the right thing by us.

well sorry to bring bad news new rates at metro.unlimited is 70. but if u had the 60 unlimited you are grandfathered and keep it :)

As this OP is titled as 'rumored', that would make sense as Sprint is WiMax 4g (which really is not 4g its much slower than LTE and just slightly faster than 3g, LTE is much faster and on a different cdma spectrum. So I don't see how it would expand they're 4g services since metropcs is on 4G LTE and Sprints on WiMax.

Now as far as extended; calling, text and mms coverage, yes. But at some point most companies piggy back off one another. Its a win-win situation.

Sprint does not have any LTE towers currently.

LoL yes they do, they just have not started USING them as of yet. Dp you think they would be giving VM their WiMax and leave themselves with nothing LoL. Also, if they are planning on releasing the Galaxy Nexus on their network bye mid 2012 they are going to have to have an LTE network ready for that.

You haven't kept up with what's going on in the industry.

Beat the HECK out of em LoL but its not a big deal, take it easy on him LoL. Even though u do agree, it is petty big news asking with then having 4G towers just not in use yet due to no reason for then.

This thread seemed to have gone in many directions but I want to give my input about the new tiered data plan. Initially I too was somewhat upset about this, but have changed my view on the new plans.

1. I would still like to see an exact definition of 'fair use' re the $70 plan.

I don't understand how so many corporate suits seemingly lack basic marketing, business growth & economic supply demand principles.
It goes to what's basically wrong with the system in our country today:

Drew Cowell, a MetroPCS spokesperson stated that "the experience for the majority of what a customer does on a daily basis, like Facebook, web surfing, etc., should continue to be solid." Best guess is that after you reach your cap, you'll at least get 1x speeds.

I'm not paying $70, I don't care how fast it is. I'll just go back to their cheap basic plans, I still got one of the basic phones, I'll use it, screw them like they screwed me.

You don't have to go to a basic phone. By going to a basic phone on a $40 plan, you might as well go on the $40 LTE plan. You'll get 250MB of fast-enough LTE which is enough for checking Facebook, email, directions, and google. If you do go over that 250MB allowance, you're going to be at the basic-phone 1x speeds anyways. You'll still have your apps, save money on your plan, "fight the power" by paying metropcs less money, etc.

That's just terrible. I've only been a MetroPcs customer for 2 years. In those 2 years the only thing that bothered me was their lack of phone choices and they have recently fixed that problem. But for them to bring this out has really dissapointed me.

It is disappointing but I have to wonder if this is actually a problem that will affect you.

MetroPCS HQ has a problem right because they are getting outbid by larger carriers to buy the LTE towers they want. They haven't been really enforcing the 100MB/1GB caps on the $40 and $50 plan. If there are people on $40 plans that are definitely going over a few GBs of data, no wonder why they don't have enough money to buy more spectrum and give customers better LTE experience. This tiered plan will relieve some bandwidth pressures.

If you're on a $40 plan, and you get throttled, unfortunately your luck ran out. Be grateful that you were able to get away with it till now, but really you can't complain that MetroPCS never really enforced that 100MB limit.

If you're on a $50/$60 LTE plan, 90% of Android users will not hit that 2.5GB limit. Over 95% of users won't hit the 5GB mark either. To reach 2.5GB of data usage, you'll have to watch almost 19 hours of youtube or about around 9 hours of netflix, or 84 hours of Pandora. Double that if you're on the $60 plan. If you aren't watching that much streaming video, I don't think you have much to worry about.

If you do go over that 5GB limit, use your home internet. Don't have home internet? Then you have to pay $70. Not to point too many fingers, but if you're going over 5GB, you're probably tethering, so be grateful that you can do that without getting blacklisted. If you want MetroPCS to have better 3G speeds, 4G, and better coverage, it's the price you have to pay. I'm grateful that MetroPCS gave us the Esteem with good-enough LTE coverage for the price. It was great while it lasted, but reality struck and they need to charge more. I think they are being fair.

Here comes the throttling. You know they are going to do that. I've been a customer since 2003 and i've put up with every thing from them but recently they did two things that has me considering dropping them.I have three lines with them and one has the unlimited international calling for $10 extra which is why i really stayed. It's unfortunate that you aren't able to contact your loved ones using the $10 unlimited international calling anymore to Trinidad and Tobago. It's really an awesome deal. My only suggestion to you is to try to find an alternative such as Skype-to-Skype calls which are free (if they have a skype enabled phone such as Android, Symbian, iPhone). Hopefully you find a way to stay in touch with your friends and family in Trinidad & Tobago.

Sprint had been hours from buying MetroPCS for $8b

This article may help a little bit! Let's see what we cone up with. Surrey, wisdom teeth are coming in and hurting like heck so trying to do the best comprehending that i can

That's old news about Sprint buying MetroPCS. They decided not to because everyone was calling them hypocrites for speaking against the AT&T/T-Mobile merger.
