Root rumrunner s-off for 3.17.651.4!!!!!!!!!!

I've been looking but haven't found a root for my current setup on cricket. I mainly just want to flash a custom Rom that would work on cricket with the software I'm on.
 
I'd halfway be willing to swear that you won't be affected by doing the HTCdev.com unlock method of rooting.

Maybe try the support channel for Rumrunner.us see if they're good for s-off with your setup.
 
Ok. I've rooted a few phones before but haven't had to get an unlock code.. how does one get said unlock code? Kinda new again since I haven't rooted a phone in about 4 years.
 
It's really easy.

We have step by step instructions for it in our main sticky thread for rooting and s-off. That's good for Windows. For a Mac, I have a thread just for that.

Generally, here's the deal -

1. Get unlock code from HTCdev.com and apply it.

2. Fastboot flash TWRP custom recovery.

3. Flash SuperSU, or a rooted rom, your choice, to complete the process.

Our threads give you the tools and the step by steps on it.

But let's see if we can't get to 100% sure it won't screw up your Cricket deal first.
 
I'd assume from htcdev I use unlock bootloader and the device would be EVO view 4g(sprint) ? Since that was the original carrier . Phone is EVO 4g lte.

That's good for a short question like yours at this point, will Rumrunner s-off be ok and not screw up using a Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE on Cricket?

If they say yes, we'll help you get along here, you may not need to ask more there.

Anyway, I'm just saying, one step at a time will get you going. ;)
 
Ok thank you and I will do that. I really don't want to be the "test dummy" for this haha. I know somebody has to be but I can't afford to reflash to cricket or buy a new phone should it go sour.
 
Getting this error trying to get s-off after unlocking boot loader. also have twrp installed and su as well. busy box will not install either? busy box gives an error when trying to install from the playstore. root checker pro says that it is rooted. any ideas? thanks.

I didn't see anyone answer at XDA either.

If you've solved this already please say how, another user is in the same boat.

That said, on to basics -

You're running as admin and you've met the prerequisites? Including not using a USB 3 port?

If that's all good, best bet is to try their irc channel.

I've left web instructions for that at freenode just a little further up this page.

It's ok that it says tampered - mine and everyone elses' does.

What you care about is that it says s-off.

What did you do to make it work??

i rebooted phoone and comp. I made sure all usb debug no virus...ect.. the i ran adb to check connection..:

not sure exactly what part worked but i made it to s-off...i figured i better cover all my bases
I ran the adb connection check before I started rumrunner...i never touched phone after rumrunner started..i let it stay in the default sync mode thru the whole thing..when the question asking what you want windows to do: open to view files , sync media , or take no action popped up I left it alone..

Sorry for the late reply. Not sure what got me to s-off. but one of two things. I switched to a different usb port on my laptop and I was making my own folder for the rumrunner on my desktop. I left the rumrunner in my download folder where it downloaded from extracted it from there and ran it. about five minutes later s-off was achieved. Thanks
