hmmm Nothing happens on the phone screen. Does this require I have super user app on the phone and loaded? because since I tried other methods of fixing it, Ive since lost all the downloaded apps Ive had. Not to mention Ive "unrooted" the phone with the gingerbreak option.

You need to be rooted to move forward with installing Recovery and then a ROM.
If you would like to proceed, you need to reroot.

Well that should be an easy fix, download gingerbreak and SU again and then I will get back to you. Luckly I can still sideload

I might have caught a tiny snag... While Ive downloaded Gingerbreak, superuser, and a file explorer... I dont know how I can view them on the phone without the said file explorer already installed. Any ideas?

How's it going?
I know you can't get to The Market so, if you need a file explorer to access the files on your sdcard, here is a copy of esfile explorer.
This will also let you browse files on your LAN.

yes Im having some trouble figuring out how to install it to the phone without using the app store. Thats the only way I know of it installing something after its downloaded. Is their an SD card trick im missing?

ThinkFree Office (if your phone is still stock) can browse your SD Card and run apps. No need to go to the market.

When I mean stock, I mean the default MetroPCS ROM. Since you haven't done anything yet, you're phone is "stock".
You should be able to find the program in your app drawer.Some custom ROMs will remove every last bit of bloat, including this program which takes up 10MB of space some people want back.

You don't need to go to The Market.
Do what Darnell said or, if your phone can browse the internet use MetroWeb and just type in the URL to download and then install esfile explorer.
Even easier would be to allow me to email or text the link to you.

I have no net on the phone as far as I know. google wont work, and the metro web app was removed
when I get a text with a link this is the error message I get. "the application messaging (process com.android.mms) has stoped."

Well, I believe you said you could sideload applications. Can you not do that with the esfile explorer app?

he apparently does not have a file explorer on his phone, which means he can not browse to the sd card to get or install the app.
install by adb is his only choice I think.

Yeh, I know, which is why I suggested installing the file explorer in my dropbox via adb.

Okay, Sorry for the late response guys, I was in the process of moving and our new internet service was blinking in and out all night. Jabba, I used ADB to install the file explorer then re-rooted my phone, then installed SU! the ADB went off without a hitch! I dare say I'm getting better at this.
So now I'm going to try and follow the steps necessary to backup and install the custom rom I will keep you posted as I'm sure I will need some pointers in the process! I also wanted you thank you all for your help thus far, and big props to Jabba for going far out of his way to help me.

The Custom rom is perfectly working! Thank you guys so much! the net is working and I'm going to be very careful with what I delete in the future

Any Idea how to stop the scrolling clouds that randomly wash across the screen? Thats my only complaint thus far.
