Root RUU Help please

Pep

Hi All.

I need to send my trusty Desire HD back for warranty as the speaker jack is not working.

So I need to put it back to stock.

Does anyone know where I can get a RUU for Vodafone Australia?

Thanks Pep

Good work on providing links malcster. I think that Hutch refers to Hutchinson (which is 3 in the UK), but you should be able to find something at shipped ROM's.

Out of interest - how long have you had your DHD? I don't think they are going to care too much whether it has a branded ROM on it or if it has an unbranded one. I'm sure I read on here at some point that, if a phone is returned under warranty and it is more than 6 months old, carriers just return the phone to HTC anyway (this could have been in the UK only though)

As I said, I think the the fact it is called "Hutch" refers to the mobile company Hutchinson 3G (which is the 3 network in the UK)... I would be careful if your phone is a vodafone one, as this wouldn't necessarily be the right one for you!

Good point DURX.
I've had it about 1 year.
I may just need an unbranded RUU.
Which is the best RUU for me to download?

If you want an unbranded Sense 3.0 RUU, you should be able to get it from Shipped ROMs... I have a dropbox download link if you need it :)

Hi chaps, much in the same boat as Pep here. I need to sent my phone back to Vodafone (I think,) it keeps freezing, and the only way to get out of the freeze is to pull the battery. Now the trouble is when trying to turn the phone back on, it just doesn't want to know, but occasionally it will for a short period of time before it freezes again! Now, what i want to know is, is there a really fast way of getting it back to stock, without doing too much with the phone?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.:D

(PS sorry for hijacking the thread)

if you want to turn your radio back to s-on,youll need to do so with the AAHK,or run the donwgrade ruu, then do it manually.

if you are ok with sending it in s-off,then just run your newesrt available carrier(or unbranded if it was unbranded) ruu :)

Thank you. Not sure if i will get away with sending it in S-Off,so will try the AAHK and see if my phone "plays ball".

Thanks again.;)

I've sent mine back S-Off. I don't know if it's going to be a problem yet.
I gave it to the person at VF and she did all the appropriate paperwork.
She didn't turn it on or anything.
I'm just waiting to hear back, I may not get away with it once it reaches HTC for repair, but fingers crossed.

I'll let you know, they said app 10 working days.

To be honest, I don't think they would look at it... it was back on stock firmware, so I doubt that anyone would notice it :)

Woohoo all good.
Nothing was mentioned about it being S-Off or S-On.
It's been returned with all the Vodafone crap installed!!!!

No complaints tho, dropped it off at a VF store on a Thursday evening
and pick it up Wednesday afternoon.

They said the main board got replaced.

That's great news Pep!

I am not in the slightest surprised that it came back with the VF boatware on it... all you'd need to do is re-root though, which should just be a case of running the AAHK again! :)

have you run an ruu yet? that,or flashing a rom in recovery would be your first step to get back to a working, booting phone.

test phones did legitimately come s-off,so i wouldnt worry too much about it,as long as youve run an ruu to eliminate any custom rom and recovery, remove root, and get the correct factory software/firmware :)

the exploits that turn s back to on are only working on old firmware,so it will be a 3 part process,if you want to do it:
1)run ruu for downgrade firmware(1.32.405.6) while s off
2)run aahk to turn s back on(or do it manually wiht gfree)
3)once yours s-on,and the correct cid(if you care about that) youll need to run an ruu to get back to your current firmware. if you have changed your CID back to stock you may need a goldcard to run a branded ruu.
