Root RUU Help please

have you run an ruu yet? that,or flashing a rom in recovery would be your first step to get back to a working, booting phone.

test phones did legitimately come s-off,so i wouldnt worry too much about it,as long as youve run an ruu to eliminate any custom rom and recovery, remove root, and get the correct factory software/firmware :)

the exploits that turn s back to on are only working on old firmware,so it will be a 3 part process,if you want to do it:
1)run ruu for downgrade firmware(1.32.405.6) while s off
2)run aahk to turn s back on(or do it manually wiht gfree)
3)once yours s-on,and the correct cid(if you care about that) youll need to run an ruu to get back to your current firmware. if you have changed your CID back to stock you may need a goldcard to run a branded ruu.

No I haven't tried as of yet purely because i wanted to see whether or not Pep's phone was repaired. As it was, i can now go ahead and try to get my phone to boot, but ideally i need a route that's fast and with minimal input from me, because it seems that if i do anything on the phone, it freezes, and then is random when it decides to boot up again. Which would you say is the fastest way to unroot?

Again, thanks for your help on the matter, and thanks to Pep for being my guinea pig.:D

When you rooted your phone, was it with the AAHK? I believe that the fastest way would be for you to turn on, plug in and run the unbranded RUU

Yes, it was with the AAHK. Right so I will give this a blast, again depending on whether my phone decides to boot.:)

Haven't managed to boot it yet, but when i plug the phone in to the PC, it recognise's the phone but gives the pop up of QHSUSB_DLOAD, doing a quick google search, it says that its a brick, but then others know a way to get back from this situation.

Any ideas?:(

Not sure to be honest but, if you can't turn it on, then I wouldn't have thought that anyone in a service centre would be able to either... may be worth waiting for Scotty's opinion though!!

That's the dilema, occasionally it will boot, but its just so random, and you can bet that the service centre will be able to boot it up, and then find out its running ice cold sandwich. :)

agreed

your phone doesnt need to boot fully. remove the battery for a few seconds, then press vol down and hold power until you get a while screen with colored leters. this screen is called "hboot"

give the phone a couple seconds, and you should see some green writing quickly flash, then disapear, assuming you have an sd present in the phone. after you see the writing, chose "fastboot" with the vol rocker and power button. this takes you to a screeen called "fastboot" wich is intended for interaction with the PC.

start the .exe file with the phone in "fastboot" screen... making efforts to chare the battery to 100% first.

if it fails,we will give you a file to put onto your sd card, and you can try to update that way.

from this, and your comment above about QHSUSB_DLOAD,it makes me think i am misunderstanding yout situation. QHSUSB_DLOAD is a mode thats specific to qualcom processors that lets the the right device/software interact with the emmc on a completely dead, bricked, device. new software can be written in this mode, bringing it back from the dead. unfortunately,if your phone is in this situation, only the good folks at htc,or possibly someone with a "riff box" can access the emmc and fix it.

sooo...

when youve been saing your phone wont boot, does it not come on at all? or does it turn on,then hang at a particular screen? have you tried powering on into hboot as i described above? if you can reliably get to hboot(and then fastboot) im pretty sure we can revive your phone.

unfortunately,if it doesnt power on at all, except at randon times, then it sounds like maybe the emmc is failing... or some other hardware issue, that an ruu wont fix.

as much detail as you can give about your situation, will be helpful :)

for what its worth, you dont need to worry too much about sending in a non-booting device. it will either be immediately recycled for parts,or hooked to the magic machine that will simply push new firmware to it. they could care less about what you were running to the point that they will get the phone booting,or even pull images off of it,in order try and trap you with a custom rom.

Right, let me try and explain a little better:

99% of the time my phone is a brick, just totally dead, but on occasion it will fire up. But the only time i have managed to boot it, is by using a different battery, 3 different ones so far, and then when it boots up, as soon as I touch the screen to open an app, it freezes! Then I have to pull the battery, and that's when it wont boot up again for ages. I know of another battery I can try, but i think its going to be my last chance.

When I press the power button there is nothing, absolutely dead, but like i said last night, if I put the battery in and then connect to the PC it just shows that QHSUSB_DLOAD pop up.

When/if I can get it to boot, there is a possibility I can get it into hboot, I just don't know how long it will stay there.

Any thing else you need to know?

Thanks for your Help again, much appreciated.:):)

Just tried my last ditch attempt to get it to boot up with a battery i haven't tried before, and its no go. Like D-U-R-X was saying, if i can't get it to boot, then hopefully they won't be able to either! Will take a trip to the local Vodafone on Saturday and see if they accept it. Thanks for all your help guys, will let you know how i get on. :-)

Good luck, hope it goes as well as mine did.
I wonder how strict they are about an older phone being rooted or not.

i think you should be fine... as long as it doesnt miraculously boot in the store, they likely wont spend any more time trouble shooting it. they will send it to htc,who will push current software if the physical condition is good and back out it will go :)

let us know how it turns out :D

Sods law, it'll boot. But anyway, cross that bridge when I come to it.

Thanks for your moral support guys?:D
