Ok so I decided to go for S-Off and have come to a snag. I downloaded the RUU file and did everything the threads have told me. When I run the program, it gets to the verifying data on the Android device screen and just sits there. I've let it run for 20 minutes. I also tried the alternative method of running the program with the temp folder open but can't find the rom.zip I was told to look for. Needless to say I am frustrated. I don't get Wifi where I live so drove to McDonalds to use their wifi to get the file. Any help is appreciated. Using the alternative method, what folder in the temp folder should I look in for the rom.zip? Thanks in advance

yes, I relocked the bootloader and S-On. I think I may have figured out what I did wrong though. I got ahead of myself I think and uninstalled HTC sync in preparation for the S-Off part of the process. That would cause some problems I'm assuming?
If you uninstalled the drivers too that would be a problem.

Try issuing the "fastboot devices" command and make sure the serial number of your phone is returned before proceeding with the RUU.

doesn't matter..... I'm throwing in the towel. I'm shut down at every turn. I found the drivers elsewhere and when I try to update it in the way described, I get a message saying that the chosen folder doesn't have a file compatible with the system. I'm done. Just wanted to check out the advantages of S-Off but it can't be worth all this. Thanks

Are you on Windows 7 or 8? There's a separate guide for installing the drivers on Windows 8.

ok well despite my frustration, I looked around some more and, using the alternative method for the RUU, found the rom.zip file, copied it to sd card and renamed it. I got excited when it flashed the image when I booted into bootloader. However, after flashing the zip and checking it, I got the error message that "Main version is older! Update failed!" Did I do something wrong?

If you already installed the November OTA you need to flash the setmainverlow.zip from this post in recovery while unlocked, then you can relock and flash the zip file you created.
