Help S Note - Landscape Orientation

Hello there, venzume, welcome to AF! :)

I have noticed that if I do have my phone oriented in the landscape position, that my S Note does open in landscape.

You do have to have Screen Rotation activated in Settings though.

Other than that, I haven't seen any other settings or know of any app that will do what you were asking.

I am prepared to be enlightened and surprised though. :D

Good to have you aboard!

The problem I have is the Note III plus S note in portrait mode is pretty unusable. It works great in landscape mode, almost identical in size to an index card.

I am able to put it into landscape mode when i turn it sideways and wait a few seconds.

What I think is needed is for Samsung to build into S Note the ability for the card to remain in Landscape. So when you open the app for example, it opens in landscape. When you turn the phone in portrait, the card stays in landscape.

Hoping someone either builds an app to allow certain programs to run in portrait/landscape mode only or for S Note to fix. Seems like a fairly easy software update to me.

Why is it unusable in Portrait mode? Mine is usable, despite my terrible penmanship. :)

If it remained in landscape when oriented in portrait, wouldn't it be sideways? How would you use that?

I am having trouble understanding this. :o

Think index card. What I'm saying is I want to write on it in Landscape all the time. When the phone is in portrait, it would be like turning the index card portrait and writing on it that way.

You got me thinking and I believe in found a work around. The first step is to select a paper without lines. Then when using the S Note, turn the Screen Rotation off. So the phone thinks it's in portrait mode but because there are no lines it's usable in landscape. Going to give this a try for a few days.

Ultimate Rotation Control is a paid app and will do what you want.

It will allow you to force rotate individual apps with its per app settings. There is a 7 day trial in Google Play. I think that's the one I linked to. You can see if that is something useful for you. I use it for the dock to force landscape and the lock screen as well. I customize the apps that lock rotations and not helpful especially when rotated upside down to the locked orientation. I found it very useful and customizable to my needs.

This is something you can consider.

Hi, I suggest the following:

In the app main screen hit your menu button.

hit settings

Hit change default tempate

Choose the landscape template you wish to use (scroll down to select one)

All new s notes open in landscape

I think he has it now with a blank template. :)

I don't know if my phone came with same templates that yours has, or if you can download different ones, but, none of the ones I can select look like they are exclusively landscape oriented.
