Root [S-OFF] LazyPanda S-OFF for LTEvo[Locked or Unlocked devices]

Just wanted to throw out a huge thanks to the kind people here at AF. Special thanks to EarlyMon & Granite1 for basically holding my hand through the process the past few days.

Working without the laptop was a huge PITA. End result though is mom went home this afternoon with a shiny new LTEvo running MeanROM 2.9 and already has a backup in tow.

Sincere thanks,
Skid

Your welcome Skid, any time!! :)

I hope your mom enjoys Mean ROM, its a good one!! ;)

I'm really sorry I wasn't around when you actually did the process, been crazy the last 2 weeks. :o

Ended up updating to 1.22 on my stock backup. Thinking I had a 1.13 backup and of course I didn't. Regaw's latest works on 1.22 now, but no s-off for me for now. Just kept putting it off. What a headache. Thanks HTC.

the main thing with regaw is that it works up to 1.22 anything above it then it will not work. as long as your hboot is 1.12 then your fine. i just finished regaw now onto getting unbutu setup and do lazy panda.

1.22 Hboot is 1.15, so no dice.

You can run the RegawMOD Rooter with that setup. S-off with Lazy panda is a no go though. :(

With the new hboot you'll need to go a different route to get kernels and such flashed now. The last hboot allowed us to flash those right from recovery with S-ON, the new one won't. Poop:mad:

Yep, I did Regaw and thankfully have root for sure. If HTC wanted to push me more towards Samsung, they should keep on what they are doing.

I hate to be a nudge about this, but I was wondering if there was any headway on the linux hboot guide =D I just saw rumors of the next Evo update and I'm still on the launch build -- I wanna jump on this before update files and such start disappearing. If it's easier, maybe it would be better to direct me to the few posts with info on this? I've already got the linux USB booting up on my spare laptop.

Many thanks in advance to Granite and Earlymon

The guys are still pounding away on that guide.

If you have linux bootable you can go ahead and run the windows version of lazypanda. The linux just needs to be there in case you brick. The unbricker works 100% of the time bit its a linux only tool.

Plan b, you use regawmod to unlock the bootloader and get a custom recovery on there. This will enable you to be rooted and flash the updated roms and you can still run s-off whenever the official guide is completed as long as you don't accept an OTA

Thanks Rxpert83 -- I also recall reading though that the linux lazypanda is more foolproof and straightforward (less room for error with the drivers and such). Is that true? I'm ok with doing it the harder way if it ensure I'm doing it right.

edit: Thanks Early! I'll read more closely after work.
