Root S-on

GARRETT4G

Lurker
Hey guys, I have successfully rooted my EVO 4G the problem is I had to be an idiot and try to unroot it, I can still flash roms but I cannot switch recoveries and my security is at S-ON, when I try to redo the full root process under revolutionary web, it tells me what do you think your doing you already have S-OFF but when in bootloader screen it clearly say S-ON. Is there any way I can turn S-OFF again?

Why did you try to unroot? You should NEVER have to unroot your phone unless taking it in for warranty service.

Your going to need to fully unroot before doing to rooting process again.
Run the RUU found the in the rooting for dummies gingerbread edition.
[ROM]RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.53.651.1_Radio_2.15 .00.0808_NV_2.15_release - xda-developers

Direct download:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cd5....15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_209995_signed.exe

You run this from your computer DO NOT FLASH IT. This file will put a stock recovery and stock ROM on the phone

Can someone please move this to the rooting section so he gets the right followup help?

i moved this thread to the rooting section.

what rxpert said is correct. you need to switch your hboot back to stock by running the ruu that was linked. once your hboot is back then try and run revolutionary again.

I'm fixing to do this but I need step by step on this guys because I can't hardly find anything on this forum it's so huge lol!

No problem. Download that file I linked to you and then open it on your computer. Open the .exe program and after that just read the onscreen instructions and make sure your computer doesnt go to sleep during the process, should take about 15 minutes and the program does the rest.

Very easy :)
