S-Voice: Anyone actually using this?

how did you map the double tap of home button to bring up Google Voice?

I use Nova Launcher to designate the home button (one press) for the Google Voice search, but didn't know you could remap the double press.

In S-Voice settings, uncheck "Launch S-Voice"

Install Home2 Shortcut app from Play Store

Set the double tap home option (Home> Home) to launch "Voice Search" from installed applications. (the blue microphone icon should appear)

Follow steps to complete the set up

If it doesn't work, go to Google Now -> menu -> refresh, and/or reboot

Hated s-voice....I went ahead and disabled it. If you're rooted Google Now search works great. Superior voice search.
But does GNow do more than search? I don't really do Internet searches whilst driving.

my biggest pain in the ass is that if i so as much pause for half a second, s-voice and siri assume im finished talking and begin processing! wtf?
That's my biggest hangup with it too; I'd love to be able to adjust that time-out.

I seen a commercial for samsung galaxy S3 and s voice where all you have to do is say "reject" when your phone rings and it rejects the phone call... i have tried it and cant seem to get that to work.. how do you do that ??:mad:
Try different ringers; some drown you out and others don't. (The VZW ringer is absolutely terrible.) "Blowing dandelion seeds" is working well so far.

I want to stop it.
I got this phone for my wife and she has been using it with here onstar with no issues, until today it popped up a message to accept Samsungs policy. She said she would and now the thing won't shut up. When we acitivate our onstar to make a call S-Voice takes over and screws it all up. I have disabled everything in the settings , but that does not stop the service from running. I disable the service and it comes right back.

I want to completely disable this app.

(I know I can root to do this, but is there another setting I am missing)

Any sugguestions would be appreciated.

I've played around with it, but the only thing I really use for is to call people when I'm using my BT headset.

This doesn't work for me. For some reason S Voice doesn't recognize what I say when I'm connected to my bluetooth hands free unit. The voice wave doesn't even move while I'm speaking.

In my opinion S Voice is completely useless for a number of reasons:It doesn't work with my bluetooth hands free unit (as mentioned)
  • It doesn't recognize the wake up command from the lock screen
  • It doesn't recognize the wake up command unless the app is started
  • If it set it to only listen for the wakeup command at lock screen when charging, it still listens (and consumes battery!) when not charging
Basically, to use S Voice I have to turn on my phone screen, unlock the phone, start S Voice, then say "Dial John at work" and then it will dial. So why wouldn't I just unlock my phone and dial John myself instead of starting S Voice since I already had to pull over and pick up the phone to unlock it and start the S Voice app?

Add to that the fact that when you ask it questions, it routinely hears words wrong. I can tell because the question it displays shows the wrong words. I have to very explicitly e-nun-ci-ate the words.

I use it. I actually make it a point to use it so that I can feed my queries to S-Voice to help make it more accurate. I have found that for basic stuff it works great:

1. Create an event on my calendar
2. Remind me to do something when i get home
3. Search for and/or call a contact

Above the SIRI celebrity commericals i just dont see what more you would realistically need your PA to do for you

I hope they give S-voice a sense of humor when you ask certain things in the update. Fun feature to play around with and use but being able to have some fun with it would be nice as well.

My son got a hold of my phone, and just like an 11 year old would do...

Now back on topic. I don't care for S Voice, but I would at least like it to work when I have to add a "New Event..." to my calendar. It has been sluggish for the most part, and 1/2 the time doesn't work very well so I don't use it much and just manually add events to my calendar.

However, today I had the urge to try again and decided to change a few things. This seemed to make it work better for me and run a bit smoother, though still not terribly fast.

1) Disable "Use Location Data" in the S Voice settings.
2) Disable "Wake up command" (I can care less for this anyway, the Home-key double-tap works fine for me).
3) In Language and Input > Voice recognizer, set it to "Samsung powered by Vlingo."

I really don't know if option 3 does anything for sure with S Voice, I just happened to set it while making the other changes. Overall it's working better for me now, but still no slam dunk.

Now, the funny thing is, my wife also has an S3, and S Voice seems to work for her 90% of the time with adding new events, sending texts, initiating phone calls, creating alarms, etc. She's a wiz at it, but I wonder if S Voice just likes her voice better than my man-grunt. :D

I also have Galaxy III and can't seem to get MotoSpeak to work properly. When I text with it, it sends but shows trying to send and then finally it shows FAILED. I would like to know if you don't have that problem what are your settings. And no I DON'T LIKE S-VOICE.

S Voice is virtually useless for me. Most times it just says "Let me do an internet search for..." and there are some words it just refuses to recognize. I'm on 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean).
