S2 Skyrocket vs Note vs S2 Skyrocket HD

Hi guys. I currently have an Atrix 4g and its upgrade time.

I am leaning towards the S2 Skyrocket but the Galaxy Note intrigues me.

Personally I think that the Note is going to be too big for my tastes and the fact that Otterbox does not make a case for it is a big mark against it for me. I do like the S pen feature. The thought of being able to write notes down anywhere would be very nice.

I have also read that there is a Skyrocket HD version on the horizon but I have not been able to find a concrete release date. From what I have read, the main difference is going to be a slightly larger screen than the current Skyrocket. I don't want to get caught in the trap of waiting forever for the next device to be released because there is always a newer better device on the horizon.

As I typed out this post, I think I have convinced myself to go ahead and get the Skyrocket unless someone can give me a compelling reason to wait.

I have done quite a bit of reading on these forums and if there is a thread that discusses these three devices in comparison, I missed it.

Thanks.

Just depends....the note is awesome. If you have not seen my review check out the note lte threads

The skyrocket HD seems like an oddball...they should have released it that way to begin with.

I know you don't want to wait forever but quadcore phones will be releasing in approximately 10 weeks.

Galaxy s3!

I will have more upgrades available come then...now I have none so I have to stick with my skyrocket.

I have no idea on the HD versions release date BTW.

The Note is basically the Skyrocket but 5.3 inches instead of 4.5 inches and like you stated above, the S-pen feature along with a TV-Out. Oh and a Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery instead of an 1850 mAH.

The Skyrocket HD will most likely be 4.65 inch with a display of 720 x 1280 pixels while the non hd which we have is 480 x 800 pixels, other than that, everything is exactly the same as the regular Skyrocket. The release date for this phone says Q1 2012, so I assume whenever the Skyrocket gets the ICS update, the Skyrocket HD will be released.

I can't agree with the statement that the note is basically the Skyrocket but larger. It would be like saying the Skyrocket is pretty much an infuse with LTE

it has a different processor, a new version of touchwiz, the things you mentioned minus a dedicated tv out and a gorgeous HD screen just to name a few things.

Check out the pics and review in the Note LTE forum.

actually there are two versions of the Samsung Note, while in the states, the processor is exactly the same as the Skyrocket, only in the international version does it get the better processor

I probably should have mentioned that in my original post that there are two versions of the Note

The us version has a different processor. Both snapdragon yes but not the same processor.

I try not to get into the exynos vs snapdragon debate. they each have strong points and weak points.

If you have a chance check out my extensive review with pics and all specs on the us version ;)

Galaxy Note - overseas
Galaxy Note Lte-US

To prevent confusion I may start using model numbers

I Prolly should have mentioned that my friend works for Samsung... And has the US Note

That is interesting that you say that, as I see the galaxy note having a 1.5 dual core scorpian cpu just like the skyrocket, but the chipsets are slightly different both running snapdragon, but one being MSM826 0 while the note runs a MSM8660

Yes...those are two different processors

Look up snapdragon on wikipedia

There is a really cool chart that shows the different processors by model # and which phone has them

Yes they are different processors since the chipsets hold different numbers, but they are technically identical

The MSM8660 adds support for the CDMA2000. A worldwide phone that you expect to cover CDMA (1xRTT, 1xEV-DO Rel.0/Rev.A/Rev.B, 1xEV-DO MC Rev.A), will need the MSM8660.

also for the op, here's an article between the skyrocket hd vs the galaxy ntoe

Well...they don't feel identical, aren't labeled identical and bench differently.

Doesn't matter lol...i won't be getting anything else for a while its a skyrocket for me

Take care doods

LoL today I actually exchanged my skyrocket for the galaxy note since I'm still within the 30 day window. I have no regrets. I love the note and faster out the box! 6200 antutu points vs 5500 for the galaxy skyrocket

oh and the galaxy note actually fits in the otto box! the 24.99 one (medium?). its like it was made for it!. doesn't shake and move around like the skyrocket did when it was in it.

I was almost going to switch my skyrocket for a note. I'm still in my 30 day return window but the size is just a bit much. Had they released the phone regular size with the same features it would have been more appealing I think.

I ended up getting a Skyrocket a couple of days after I originally posted. Great phone. I traded yesterday for the Note. The size is going to take some getting used to but I am able to make phone calls with one hand and that was the main thing I was worried about.

I was almost going to do that myself until I heard about the note not being "one-hand" friendly. Personally, I could get use to the screen size as that was the deciding factor in getting the Skyrocket. I still have a few days left to decide before my windows closes.

I went into the store and played with one for a few minutes. Its definitely an adjustment. I do like the voice control feature that the note has. The Skyrocket may of had the same thing but i never discovered it.

When i got my skyrocket last week the guy who worked there showed me the note and let me play with it. Its definately too big for my personal tastes, i could see a girl carrying it in her purse but it barely fit in my back pocket. Ive been thinking over the last couple of years with all the increasing screen sizes on phones that there would be a point where you said to yourself "thats just to much" and i said that to myself when i saw the note. If i saw someone walking down the street holding the note to their ear i might actually laugh just because of the size of the thing.

I use a bluetooth headset almost exclusively except when I am in my pickup and it has bluetooth in the radio. I like the increased size of it because I will show sales videos to my customers. What really sold me on it was the s pen, the ability to write a note down at any time.

I have two upgrades coming (march & may). Thought about buying a used skyrocket for $350 and hanging on my upgrade for the GS3 or hopefully the next Nexus.

Good choice - I would do that if I had the chance. Much better phone for my tastes. Love the bigger screen for txting and watching vids plus the pen is great.

Galaxy III is coming out in April with a 5" screen and may be good competition for the Note.
