S2 Yellow Triangle Freeze Screen

No none of them worked unfortunately.

I cannot get the phone to get past the start up screen so no dial pad, is there any other way to go about getting the version?

Oh dear!

Was your original firmware branded or unbranded, (i.e. does it have a network operators firmware or was it a generic, unbranded, handset), and what is your location/country?

I imagine it would have the operators firmware, it was purchased on an 02 contract.

I am in the UK, Birmingham to be precise.

Providing that you have the GT-i9100 phone and no other variant, this is the latest O2 firmware, Android 4.0.3, LPD, which you can flash using Odin and the instructions in post #1, here, under the heading, "My firmware is not eligible for ICS yet but I want it now!".

This will put the stock, unrooted, O2 firmware on to your phone.

Thank you very kindly, I will let you know how I get on.

I had actually already downloaded that which reassures me slightly, shows me I have some sort of an idea...if only a slight one!

Try the kj1 cfroot kernel. There is no ki4 firmware for o2 but kj1 does include the ki4 modem which you may have confused with the kernel.

We may have gotten off on the wrong foot, but now I wish to have your children, I think I love you.

I have a working phone once more.

Good shout Shotty! :thumb:

I hadn't allowed for that. Got to be worth a try at least!

Where would I find the KJ1 cfroot kernel? Do you believe this to be why the rooting didn't work to begin with?

I wish to root the phone still but am unsure as to whether it is worth risking again.

Of course do... what's not to love. I'll see if I can slot you in the queue somewhere. ;)

Thank goodness for that!

It is a moot point now as you should have a different kernel version on this firmware. We shall never know if that was the reason you failed to root but it does seem a possibility.

I wish to root the phone still but am unsure as to whether it is worth risking again.

Go on... what's the worst that can happen?

(By the way... I shall be on my annual 4 weeks holiday to Pitcairn Island as from this evening. :D )

It's turned out not to be so much of a working phone unfrotunately, now coming up with the following messages:

"unfortunately, the pocess android.process.acore has stopped"
"unfortunately, LogsProvider has stopped"

Any ideas?

As per the instructions in post #2 of the Rooting for Dummies Guide, I would suggest booting into Recovery and wiping the cache as I don't think you can do a dalvik wipe on an unrooted phone, if memory serves me right. Failing that, you may need to do a Factory reset I'm afraid and then re-sync with your Google account to restore app's contacts, calendar, etc: Don't forget... your poor phone's had a lot of flashing today.

Will see how I get on, I think rooting will be very much placed on the backburner for quite some time, to have a phone that works again would be nice!

I now have a working phone again!

Thank you all for your help over the past 24 hours, fantastic sight and extremely knowledgable members, I have been very impressed.

Stop being nice or we'll be forced to help you again!

You might as well root your new firmware. Lets face it, you now know how to flash a kernel, lots of times, and a stock firmware. I honestly believe that there was a mis-match with your original kernel and the kernel you used to root. Don't let that put you off... give it a go! :thumb:

Just Make Sure You Do This.......

Enter *#1234# on your dial pad and post the 4 lines of information given in, "Version". This will at least supply enough information to allow you to flash your original firmware back on, with stock kernel, using Odin.

Before You Attempt Rooting It Again! Lol.

I fear may phone may attempt to take my life if I head down that route once more. It has already seen my genitalia far more times than it would like today with the amount of times I've flashed it.

The only kernel I'm currently interested in is the one who prepares fried chicken.

The kernel is now: 3.0. 15-I9100XWLPD-CL524746 dpi@DELL154 #3.

Version:

PDA - I9100XWLPD

Phone - I9100XXLPW

CSC - I91002ULP7

Build Info - Tue May 8 19:07:11 KST 2012

Never delete this thread :P.

Glad to hear the problem has been resolved. I'd like to formally welcome you to the "Pucker Club" - you're now familiar with that infamous "oh sh......!" sinking feeling beloved by many here. :)

Don't let this experience put you off. If anything it's demonstrated the robustness of the GS2 - it can be recovered from just about any situation.

Yes the buttocks were clenching a fair bit last night that's for sure!

I shall undoubtedly test the GS2 once more in the weeks to come with Rooting Take 2, stay tuned folks, it'll be a bumpy ride!

Come on Lilly86... you know you want to.

Just so I don't have to set my alarm for 3am and on the grounds that you will not get any sense out of me until I have had 3 large mugs of Taylor's Rich Italian Roast black coffee in the morning... I'll give you one of two kernels to use for rooting, (Murphy's Law that LPD is showing 2 CF-Root kernels for it!).

I suggest trying the XX_NEE_LPD-v5.5 first.

Should that fail then go for the XX_NEE_LPD-v5.4 next.

Take it nice and slow and, if all else fails, you can always flash that firmware on again. ;)

Call me Michael ;)

Thank you for the links, I shall take the plunge at the weekend, I don't think I can risk surviving a second day at work without a working phone and the girlfriend will start to get a complex as I ignore her for a further 24 hours!!

I'll give you a few days rest before we don the hard hats once more!

It has been a pleasure Mr. Ass.
