S3 (3 UK) OTA Update received

After reading this I checked and also had an update available :) I'm on 3 in UK with a S3 to. Before I was on ALF6 and now I'm on BLH3.

Is this the latest official firmware (non pre-release JB etc), that even the SIM free/unbranded phones have on now? 3 have finally caught up?

I like the brightness slider in the pull down, the power button hold down has shortcut for mute, but so does the pull down, pointless.. cant see much else, browser back/forward.

I'm still getting the re-draw on my home screen...

There is also something different with wallpapers, not figured it out yet but when you go to set a new wallpaper you get 3 crop zones as opposed to the original one.

Received today as well Android 4.0.4 build # IMM76D.I9300XXBLH3 in UK. The only change I can see is the brightness slider anyone else find anymore changes?

shut down menu has changed on mine, now includes shortcuts for mute, vibrate & sound.

also other change i noticed is previously i could not have the brightness on auto, it was to dark, where as after the update i have ticked the auto brightness and it is fine.:)

Also, the BST symbol has changed in the weather app.

It was a 1 on an orange background, but now it's a white background.

The BLH3 firmware also seems to fix some the battery indicator problems.

Specifically, it now no longer only shows 100% charge while connected to a charger (previously it dropped to 99% as soon as the charger was removed!).

Battery life seems to be better too, but presumably it's just because they've fixed the charge reporting (I'm guessing it was grossly underestimating battery charge level before).

Dom.

I would agree with you Dom, my battery appears to last longer but previously from the 15% left warning it lasted another 2 hours.

lol.

Does it seem to work ok for you, have you noticed any problems yet?
I'm always nervous with updates. Being a previous iPhone user where my updates always seemed to have some kind of an issue installing.
Ive never installed a major update on my S3 so just checking before I do lol.

John :)

All working fine on mine.

Once done, check all settings as there are new ones and amendments to existing ones.

Google Now is available via long-holding home button and selecting middle option.

Great, thanks very much. Here goes :)

It wont let me do it now, typical huh. Snooze you lose.

I think the servers are busy it says "Access to the software update service is provided to users in the order in which they request it. Try again later"

Strange.

Mine was already downloaded waiting to be installed.

Its done now, what a smooth update I was pleasantly surprised! Thanks for your help :)

And there was I thinking I was smart having unbranded S3 so would get the update first!

Yes I must admit, when I read CBers post this morning I was surprised to say the least. I honestly didn't expect to be getting it for at least a few more months.

Well done to 3 I guess for cracking on with it.

Branded before unbranded then? Blimey

I'll be flashing the unbranded version whenever it rears it's head with Odin, been running the Poilish release since last month.

wow, well done 3! I was very annoyed by how long it took them to release the previous updates. I think the original firmware was very buggy and I had much better battery life after the update so just wished they'd released it sooner! Pleased they've learnt their lessons and been quick with JB. Unfortunately had wifi off last night so didn't download so I'll have to wait till this evening to check it out!

I'm on 3 but not sure I want to update to JB in fear of it having too many bugs. Does JB support Flash?

Also, would someone give a list of pros and cons of JB v ICS

Thanks
