S3 (3 UK) OTA Update received

I thought I was heading to Jelly been delight when I plugged the phone into Kies this morning and it kicked off an upgrade, alas after waiting half an hour or so it just upgraded me to 4.0.4 - cruel, very cruel :(
 
Woot first thing in the morning it told me there was an update. Running JB now and all seems to be fine! It installed a new bbc media player which i think is to handle the non-flash playing JB? there appear to be some bugs with the bbc app though

The settings have also changed somewhat but all to the better. New widgets as well. Some useful ones. Different modes for lock screen. The alarm widget though is now bigger and not as nice as before. Loving google now. The keyboard font has changed slightly as well.

A help app has been added as well covering the basics.

S voice has also changed back to being female? Or is that just the google vs vlingo options?

And the transition animations are different.

Calendar is slightly different as well. The day is now circled.
Adding widgets on screens moves around stuff so it fits better. Also can create pages on its own to fit widgets that don't find space.

Got this message too but Kies has it so downloading as we speak.

Yeah, I'm getting that too. Been trying all night as well. Can't trie Kies until I get home.

well not sure yet but when i unplug it it goes back to 99 relatively sooner than the previous update. And it seems to me to drain a little bit faster. Could be because i keep using Google Now of course. Could straighten out when I stop checking out the cards all the time !
 
OK, this is driving me nuts. I still cannot get the OTA, and Kies will not recognize my firmware - I can do everything lse, back-up sync etc... but not upgrade.

I installed 2.5.0.12094_28_8 - and I think I briefly had a moment where it showed a firmware u/d but I cannot be sure. I was having other issues at the time.

Next time I started Kies, it to;d me IT needed an update. Updated, and now phone recognized but firmware left blank.

The phone is a completely stock, un modified, locked to 3 UK, carrier branded phone.

I am about ready to throw either my computer or the phone at a very hard object - possibly both!

I understand that in respect of the OTA - what is annoying me is that I cannot get Kies to even tell me what the current firmware is. Which means I am stuck waiting on the OTA.
 
Some small changes under JB:

No memory option in calculator
Alarm app changed
Sky Go not supported

Plus a few others
 
OK, I finally got it after installing Kies on a different machine.

Interesting its only 4.1.1, I got 4.1.2 on my Nexus S the other day - mind you, that is Nexus device.

Wonder how long before 4.1.2 hits S3
 
Has anyone found that signal is much worse with JB on 3? I'm really struggling now. Any idea whether there's a better modem I can flash through Odin?
