S3 Casing Crack

A crack has appeared on the outer casing of my S3, after about 3 months of use. It hasn't be dropped or mishandled - I have no idea how it got there, however I have seen similar problems around the web ( it's identical to this Galaxy S3 casing issues plague the smartphone, Samsung to repair affected units )

I emailed samsung, and got a reply suggesting I upgrade the firmware on my phone, as this should solve the problem. Do they even read emails?

Any ideas on what I should do next?
 
Call Samsung or initiate a live chat if the crack bothers you. I had a crack appear right at the USB connector. Didn't even think to do anything about it though. Ended up having to replace the phone though when it died suddenly and completely.

The other alternative - put the phone in a case.
