Hey there!
I'm interdpth!
I have a really important service announcement!
This nifty bugger will update your modem for you! The new modem was introduced in the official update.

Please be advised it flashes a new modem, and we will not be able to get the old one so you will be on EE14 until a new update comes along.

The other stuff update.zip brought will be brought in the next Shabbymod.

Shabbymod will incorporate this new way to update.

*This way is safer and allows for less user error!

*Instructions
Download the Drivers
Unzip the updater
Run the .bat(Linux and Mac version coming soon)
Follow on screen instructions(make sure debugging is enabled on device)
Have fun and stay safe!

another amazing piece of work by you, keep up the good work my man :D

for anyone wondering this will update your baseband to EE14, shabbymod will bring your system to EE14.. only thing left would be teh kernel. and once we figure out how to flash that.. well we wont need the ee14 kernel ;P

again this is for people who dont want to upgrade to ee14 and are on stock or are on shabbymod and want the new modem

Cool Update Method Too!! I woke up early on Saturday and found this!

I wonder if I should update my USB drivers again. The last two times I have ran these batch files I get a "Windows has stopped responding" and then "Attempting to Fix", or something like that. This is not a very good description. The next time it happens I will pay more attention.

Anyway, it does not seem to really screw anything up. The batch file still runs OK and does its thing. My laptop does not crash, just keeps on working. But I used to never get that message when flashing.or rooting.

But, I digress. Great Job. I tried to donate just now, but had some problems with Paypal. I will try to figure it out later on this afternoon. i probably just need to drink a cup of coffee first.

Thank You, Sir!!!

Question: This may be a silly question(there are no stupid questions, just stupid people who refuse to ask) but what exactly does updated modem do and is it beneficial?

Very nice. I just applied the update. It was a little worrying when it booted into recovery because the prompt had not loaded to tell me to press the camera button. There is/may be one little misspelling or missing word "When Phone has rebooted into(?)press the camera button the side" It doesn't say. I know its pretty self explanatory but I thought you may like to know.

promises of better battery and signal :D
Generally I have like half bars at my house, and right now I have full. It may be the placebo effect or something, but if it is I'm okay with this blissful ignorance :)

I've got the original stock EE13 rom, rooted, and for now the build.prop file from 0.6 shabbymod. So, should I apply this then to get the EE14 "modem update"? As in, is it recommended, and do I need to do anything with my config before I apply it?

Before this came out I was considering changing the build.prop file back to original then getting the OTA update, then Rooting again, but this seems perhaps easier. What else would I get if I ran the regular update instead?

I had the same issue installing that I was supposed to reboot but wasn't told to do so until after I did it.

Also seeing a definite increase in signal here at home .

i would suggest changing the build.prop back to stock and getting the ota, it may seem like a step or two more but then youll have the new files and new kernel. if your on stock and you apply this your only way of getting the new system files is via shabbymod

Shabby, I changed the Shabbymod 0.6 out; replaced with the ED13 build.prop posted here. Then I rebooted and it asked for update. So I checked yes. Then it failed, said something like error with .....ED13toEE14.zip. So no update. Can I just get a copy of the zip file and do the update manually? I thought I saw that update file on here somewhere???

Oh, and I have what looks like the update zip file in the cache directory, but ti says size is 0 k

If it helps, here is the whole text of the error that I get:

thought you had stock system? if so then it should work just fine.. but that error is having issues finding browser.odex

It does not have Shabbymod, but I did remove some files. Do you think there is any way to get the OTA to install then? I did find a copy of update_SPH-M820_ED13ToEE14.zip, but don't know what I might be able to do with it

Not sure what expectations to have from the modem update. I DO have more "bars" showing on a consistant bases. The browser progress bar moves a lot faster and the screens seem to populate faster also. I live in an area with spotty Boost coverage so I pretty much use WIFI at home. Next week when I am riding around South Georgia I will check it in some areas with all the bars and see how it runs.

I did run some speedtest.com tests and compared them to numbers before the modem update. They were definately at the high end of the previous readings, especially download. For Prime Time Saturday night that should be pretty good. but, I really do not know what I am looking at.

ok yea then it wont work.. you need to have a completely stock system to have the update run.. your best bet then honestly.. is to use this modem flasher and use shabbymod... or replace all those files you deleted then update...

My bluetooth driver is pissing me off cause I am almost certain its causing my phone sleep recovery issues, is that included with the modem driver or is that separate and will be included in an upcoming update?

Hopefully the only needed file I'm missing is Browser.odex; Is it possible to get a copy? (Or the Browser.apk and Browser.odex as a pair)?
