In addition to the OP also deleted all of these with no negative effects:cool:

In System/app:

Google Books
Visual voice mail
Google talk
Swype keyboard
Protips + odex
Magicsmoke wallpapers + odex
Livewallpapers + odex
Com.google.android.inputmethod.pinyin-1.apk Korean keyboard
Deskclock & odex
Email.apk +odex
Google Korean IME apk
Google Quick box
Visualtion wallpapers.apk + odex

In / preinstall app :
Loopt
Pex-6.3.0.0-metro-rc-apk
VCpay_21_58.apk

Trying to see how much room could be freed up on the phone:eek:;)

I have almost the same thing as create a ROM. With one click, you get a rooted phonoe with the bloatware removed. I did this by modified the one click BAT file include scripted commands that delete all of the bloatware.

You could continue to modify the script to push other apps that you think belong, such as how it is modified to push superuser.apk onto the phone.

thanks very appreciated !

OK, so I followed the procedure to root the Admire (after several hours of frustration) and finally got Titanium pro to show that I have root access (as well as root explorer with r/w access) in all folders. I can delete the apps in /system/apps but when rebooted, they come back. What am I doing wrong here?
-Pete

Mount to r/w in root explorer:confused:

Do not remove MyMetro..i removed it and force close messages kept popping up and i rebooted my phone but it wouldnt recognize the SIM card. Luckily i backed up MyMetro and i recovered it and worked fine.......I have the lg esteem

Removed this on admire also..fc..pull battery..reboot..gone:thumbup:

So no one bricks their phones... Many of these are self-explanatory and you can figure most out from the icons, but better safe than sorry.

These are located in /system/app so don't go deleting things you're unsure of.

Easy-WiFi-android-4.0.136.apk - MetroPCS Easy WiFi
(You could leave this intact as it circumvents the login procedure at SOME public hotspots (such as Starbucks))

Metro411_V1.0.7.1_02042011.apk - Metro411

metroappstore1.5.apk - Metro App Store
(You may want to leave this if you want to rebloat your phone, but otherwise useless)

MetroBackup_1.70.apk - Metro BackUp
(We have droids, our contacts are safe with the benevolent Google, as long as your account is set up)

MetroPCS_Visual_Voice_Mail_3_14_04.apk - Visual Voice Mail

MetroSTUDIO_v1.00.30_Build30_03302011.apk - MetroStudio

MyExtras.apk - My Extras
(They're extra annoying)

MyMetro.apk
(May consider leaving as it allows you to view account info, but can be removed)

Samsung_R720_IMandSocial_V4.0.8_build0203.apk - IM and Social
(AIM, Facebook, Twitter, crap like that)

SamsungR720_MetroNavigator_4.9.1_Build_86_04252011_rel_signed_PROD.apk - MetroNavigator
(We have Navigation for this)

ThinkFree.apk - ThinkFree Office
(May be useful to some people)

z7-android2x.apk - Mail@Metro
(Not necessary unless you don't use Gmail)

Hope this helps!

I made Titanium backups of all these programs if I delete them from the system/app folder do you no or does anyone no if titanium can restore these apps without any problems?

Since there seems to be some debate on page one about this, does anyone know without a doubt that Google Maps, Latitude, Navigate, Places, and Google Search can be removed without causing any issues with the phone?

Google talk is needed to download from the market. And yes have another browser downloaded and installed if you delete the stock browser. You also can delete all the calendar apks including the sync one. Theres 3 or 4 total google calendar apks

Yes.[/QUOTE]

Actually you can still download from the Market without Google Talk. I removed it from my phone and I am still able to use the Market.

Question sorry this may sound stupid in order to remove bloat ware do I have to root my phone first then I can remove them? because I try now and I can't.

In titanium that usually means that while you have uninstalled it-a backup still remains. Check the batch option in TB for "delete backups for uninstalled apps".

For 1 & 2 just open the TB app and select menu "? Help & Support"
There is a legend as well as a Wiki explaining everything.
Not sure about Google Books-it might not work correctly if moved though as it is a part of the play store. Have never used it before either.

Im new here. Want to disable some apps from my Samsung Exhibit II from tmobile. Was looking for some sort of list of safe apps to remove/disable.

It seems this thread is a metro pcs phone....

Any help guiding me to the right place is greatly appreciated!

I had some annoying issues after deleting visual voicemail. I wouldn't recommend it. Had to reflash like 3 times before I figured out what the problem was.

Hi KageBeast, glad to see you again, hehe. I'm here because when I try to delete these extra and non-usable metro apps. (that after a while I realized you guys call bloatware). I kept getting a message saying the app. cannot be deleted due to them being read-only files, also I was using root file manager and not titanium backup (don't fully trust that app. due to some of you having problems with it.). Is there another way to get rid of these apps. or do I just need to go ahead and take a chance at using titanium backup.?

I have never used root file manager, but you just have to find a way to switch it to read-write. And everything root related comes with problems. Titanium backup comes with no risks. I've never had issues with. Unless you're running rooted stock 2.3.6 because it's known to break root with that, but if you're using a custom rom you should have no problems. Titanium can't do anything to mess up your system unless you delete a system app you aren't supposed to. So yeah you should just use it. It's the quickest way

my phone is rooted, thanks to you and the other developers, so would I need to unroot my phone (go back to original system) and then use titanium backup to remove those metro apps.? Also if I have to and I find a way to delete those metro apps. will they re-appear when I switch back to the OA (open android) ROM?

i feel like you ask to many obvious questions, the type where you just want to smack your own forehead... but no, you have to be rooted to debloat. and if if flash OA then you will have everything OA has. if you restore after not liking OA and your backup was before you debloated then yes you will have all the bloat but if your backup was made after you debloat then no you wont have any bloat. cant restore what doesnt exist in the system. oohh and ijs the only way to unroot on this phone is to restore through a backup in CWM or Odin but its better to use a backup cause Odin is problematic

Thank you for helping me understand, I ask questions that seem obvious because I'm a little slow, it takes different ways of an answer to help me fully understand, which is why my some or most of my questions seem like I didn't catch the answers in the response (which I didn't or didn't fully understand them). it's the only way that helps me best understand, yet also knowing that many are impatient and a bit offensive of those like me, I also try not to ask too many questions. But thank you for you're response, I used cwm to backup my original ROM before switching to the new one, but there are still a couple of apps. on the new ROM I'm using that I would like to get rid of, shouldn't be a problem removing them using titanium backup (hopefully). Also because of me using cwm to backup my custom ROM, is odin another backup system that can be used also?. I'm not going to use it I'm just asking?.
