Samsung Behold II

The Galaxy works on T-mo 3g in America, T-mo tends to strip down the phones so they can charge their customers less for them.... They still think Americans would rather pay less and not have 8GB and a bigger battery with their phones..... so they took the Galaxy and made it cheaper.

Also, for those of you complaining about poor support, didn't Samsung release 2 software updates for the Galaxy in the past 2 weeks? Didn't they fix Battery problems and Unlock problem? They might have been slow before, but they are working on it now....
I accept a bet with anyone on the forum that the Galaxy will get the TouchWiz update, directly from Samsung, BEFORE the Behold 2 comes out in the USA.
Anyone up for it?
 
touchwiz is a tmobile product but you can bet people will hack it

Its a dumbed down galaxy as others have said, however the only thing it appears to be lacking is the internal 8gb of memory. Otherwise it is exactly the same given differences in the keyboard. Hopefully that means we can flash its firmware onto our galaxies (i am in the US on Tmobile already) and not have a problem. Hopefully it will still recognize the internal 8gbs. I dont know if I like to keypad layout for the behold II. I dont see myself using that cube stuff to frequently. In all honestly, i rarely if ever use the directional pad on my galaxy as is.

Another thing, they say that the behold has agps only, does that mean it is lacking regular gps? Is that another thing that the galaxy has that it doesnt then?
 
I have a feeling the battery capacity is inaccurate. At the very least it is probably 1350mAh.

The worst case scenario here is that they added more internal ram for the cube interface. If that's the case the behold II rom and galaxy roms won't necesarily be interchangeable without performance penalties :(

If it has the same RAM, then we're set! and you can expect a load of galaxy updates from samsung upto the release of the behold II

You are right, keeping the community strong and focused on the positive things is a good thing. At least my comments have been increasingly negative lately and that is causing harm as well.

It's good to be reminded to think positive once in a while =)

Lets just hope that the increase in the amount of models out there improves the level of support (software and otherwise).

Sorry Rastaman, you were first, you deserve a double thumbs up. :)

It does seem to me Samsung are being serious about the Galaxy, and now this rebranded one. They are bringing out updates for it, it's just the lack of transparency I think that is the problem. If they had a website/forum/blog or some public forum that admitted to the problems and said "we're working on it" and "please give us feedback" then I think people would be much happier. The updates and fixes are great, but when you don't know if they are coming it makes you unsure if it's the right device to get, and for people who already have it and find the problems with it they don't realise a fix is coming and return it. It's just a bad way to run a business.
 
I'm sure this should be good for the Galaxy. The Galaxy already has a lot of consumer support worldwide, and it would not do Samsung any good to just release this Behold II and forget about the Galaxy. Yeah, I guess it does look like we were kind of guinea pigs for Samsung's Android, but that's the only way to make a good product: test it, and get feedback. And Samsung has been pretty good about addressing issues we had, not great, but as of late firmware updates have been coming out frequently. If the Galaxy and Behold II are as similar as we suspect, I'm sure we'll see more updates perfecting the Galaxy as the release date of the Behold II approaches. Hopefully this is Samsung's Android finally beginning to take off.
I'd say the Behold II seems like a promising phone, aside from the battery uncertainty and the internal memory issue; I don't think it'll match the Galaxy. It seems like the missing link between the Galaxy and the Galaxy Lite. Does anyone know if it'll have Donut or Cupcake?
 
rumour has it that its going to be cupcake still. im guessing the want to be rolling out a near perfect cupcake on their flagship devices before moving to a new base code.
 
Web browsing is unusable in the current state of OS with such small amount of RAM. Samsung haven't learnt yet.

You can't be serious - perhaps it's due to my galaxy being less than a week old, but the experience is swift even with multiple windows :)
 
How are you guys making assumptions about the specs on this phone already? It was announced a day ago. I'm not seeing solid descriptions on the internal memory or the battery on any websites.

I've been waiting for a good android phone for 2 months now. My brother got the Iphone and my Mom wants to get rid of the family plan we have with Sprint since it's just two of us on it now and not a very good deal. I've had the Samsung SPH-A840 for four years now, and I'm itching to get a good android phone, but we have ZERO good options in the US. Be happy you've had the Galaxy and the Hero for a while.

I decided on the i7500 2 months ago and have just been waiting for an announcement. I'm thinking this is it. I won't be surprised when more solid specs come out and it's exactly the same. I was getting ready to go to the store on 10/11 to get the Hero, but of course this announcement came out to torture me with a decision just in time. I was reading the i7500 was going to come here in late November and it looks like those people were right.
 
It really looks like it'll be the same as the galaxy, but there _might_ be some things missing like the internal 8gb to save money. I really don't see them dropping the battery capacity.

Try going to any other application (gallery) and back to the browser or just minimise it for few minutes. Does it force reloading tabs from internet?
