Thank you! I love Think Geek... I've spent so much money there and at Jinx. I'm currently wearing my favorite Jinx shirt:

I'm seriously considering that caffeine shirt. /ponder

Huh, haven't heard of Jinx.. *wanders over* That's an awesome shirt, I should recommend that to the pirate-knitters in my family. And I've been staring at the caffeine shirt for months, so 'bout time I actually got it. They have a chocolate molecule shirt, too.

If you have any WoW fans in the family, Jinx is the place to go.

Kaessa, you need to link your spreadshirt in your sig.
Man they have a ton of choices too. I might actually go with the brown for a regular t or maybe the slate for the AA t, then again hoodie looks good in navy. So many choices, I love it.

I'll do that. :)

Kaessa, wow, I love the design of the t-shirts, haha. So many colors too! I may have to get myself an early Christmas present, even though this applies to me a little less than some others here (won't name any names...)

Hello all. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Lee, and I used to own a Droid X (this is the part where the whole room says "Hi Lee") I just got my Fascinate yesterday, and take it from someone who uses their phone VERY often... you don't know problems until you've had an X. A 1Ghz device that A) Can't draw a lock screen where the slider doesn't lag. B) Can't thread text messages...even though we're 5 years past that particular innovation. C) Not only needs almost weekly factory resets, but has a specific voodoo ritual that must be followed for a FR to even help... I'll give you a hint: if you aren't naked, and it's not a full moon, and you're not covered in the blood of a unicorn, it isn't going to work. Sure I've found some quirks with the Fascinate, like the laggy app drawer, but I add an app to a screen maybe weekly. I unlock my phone a hundred times a day.
I'm pretty good with technology. Not bake a ROM good, but good. I hope I can contribute, and if everyone could avoid using the letter X in their posts, I'll try not to have a PTSD attack in the forums ;) Thanks for having me!

welcome Lee :D as a fellow former DXer im glad to see you join us, but sorry to hear about your problems with your x...honestly my x was fine but my issues with motorola philosophically lead me to ditch it.

in any event the individuals here and in the fascinate general and root sections are very helpful and genuinely nice people. the fascinate community is pretty great

Welcome Lee! *passes out plate of cookies* One post and I like you already. The only smartphone I've had is this one, so can't really sympathize, but I really love this thing, no major complaints. Apparently only those three sections of the forums are nice, so I'll wait till you post in Tech Support or Accessories to rip your head off. Also, you reminded me of this:

Welcome Lee. Be sure to cruise over to the Fascinate sub forums, plenty of learning there and cures for the lag you notice ;)

Lee

Hello Lee, welcome :). I had a Droid X (sorry, couldn't avoid it) for about two weeks and switched to the Fascinate. Never looked back. While mine didn't have many problems as yours, I think the Fascinate is a better phone overall. This community here is very helpful, check out the Fascinate forums in their entirety and you can find tweaks to help get it running just the way you want it to.

I wanted to quote everyone from Lee's intro on down, but I couldn't or was just too lazy. Reading the last 5 or 6 posts has made my mind up for me already. I am due for an upgrade on Sunday and I have been tossing around the idea of getting either the X (DONT STROKE OUT LEE) or the Fascinate.

I like community and I like this forum because very few people flame you if you ask smart responsible questions which is why I am going to go with the Fascinate and hope that if there is an issue, you will all be able to help.

I have had a Droid (the Original) since day one and I LOVE it. I have had my original since day one too and there really isnt anything wrong with it despite the slower processor and I tend to like my technology fast, as in two weeks down the road fast. My sister wants a android phone so I figure, there is nothing wrong with mine and I want her to learn the system and what better way to learn than my phone.

Anyway, now I am just bantering so I am going to say this, thanks for the future help, welcome to the forum Lee and Android FTW!

First, Thanks for all the welcome wishes! :)

Second, thanks for the info. Now that I am free from the shackles of a locked bootloader, custom ROMs and kernels were the FIRST thing I was going to research.

Do I have to root to download it?

Seriously one of the things I've been bitter about for the majority of my life...

When I was young (like 4 years old) my mom and I went to the grocery store. Apparently someone who was in line before us opened and ate part of a pack of candy and put it back on the shelf in the checkout line. Me being innoncent and such grabbed it and brought it to my mom to tell her, of course she and the woman at the checkout line thought I did it so I got a spanking when we get home.

So much for being the good Samaritan!!!
