Help Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 RAW (.dng) Capture

MT74

Lurker
Hi,

Happy new year, everyone! This is my first post so sorry if I'm asking a silly question...

I've just bought a Galaxy A3 2016 and would like to be able to capture RAW (.dng) image files. I've run Manual Camera Compatibility and it's told me that RAW support isn't available (along with other manual camera controls).

Is that the end of the story? Is it possible to implement RAW support through some other means, i.e. by rooting the phone?

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Mark

A happy New Year to you too, and no, it's not silly. :)

I'm afraid so, at least until Samsung include RAW output support in a firmware update.

There are many camera apps in the play store that support raw.

True, but if the OEM doesn't provide RAW support then they are useless. I've been harassing Sony for more than a year to include RAW capture with no success.

Thanks all!

I was afraid that was the case. Have begun process of harassing Samsung, but based on Slug's experience with Sony, I'm not optimistic!

Samsung say:

"With regard to your recent email, I can assure you that we appreciate all customer feedback and use it to drive future innovation and improvement. I will ensure that your comments are passed to the relevant team within Samsung so we can address any areas for improvement."

I think that's a "no".
