Help Samsung Galaxy Europa Text Problems

Hey, we could form a group a bit like alcholics anonymous. "Hi my names Fred, and I have been repeat text free for a whole week now", the group would clap and we could talk about the dark times when we would get as much as 20 repeats of the same text.....

Or maybe I'm just talking rubbish :)

Well got my i5500 back from shop and so far so good,They had to keep for 2 hours and they said it will revert to factory settings and will be locked back to vodafone, but thankfully its still unlocked.Got new firmware which is PDA :JH4, PHONE :JG3 and CSC :JH2.Different from you guys who updated via Kies, what difference it makes is any-ones guess.
Kinda happy but we really shouldnt have this trouble in the first place.
Any-one have any more info on a official release of froyo?

Update!

So, I got my Europa back last week after being updated and I pleased to report it has only received one repeated text message!

Also, there is a new updated version of Kies! It now tells you your O/S with Network!

See screenshot! Screenshot

Hello, I am also on 02 Pay monthly, I have since had 3 replacements but how come you got a free Samsung Galaxy S, 02 didn't tell me this! They just gave me a replacements!
LUCKY! I may 02 if I can get this offer too because I have upgraded the device but I still get the text glitch and the phone restarts every so often!

Hi again. In response to the person who asked about the firmware version I have its 2.1-update1 - seems to do the trick for me.:)

I'm trying to sort out my wife's Europa (she's on Vodafone) Still getting nothing new through Kies, so I called Vodafone and then Samsung today... both said that Samsung is still working on an update for Vodafone customers, and only o2 customers have been addressed.

The woman gave no timeframe, but I hope this gets resolved soon. Granted Vodafone have offered to replace the phone for another model, but that's my missus' choice.

Any one else on Vodafone still twiddling their thumbs?

I currently have Kies 2.0.0.11014_62, which is the version it prompted me to update to the last time I used ver. 2.0.0.11011_16_5.

Can't say what firmware version it brings up when I connect the phone, as my missus has the phone on her at work atm, but it says the latest firmware is installed.

Both Samsung and Vodafone convincingly said the same thing, so I dunno. They just said the update for Vodafone users was a WIP.

Oh thats a bummer, my firmware is PDA:JK3/PHONE:KA1/CSC:JK1 but I know others have had problems getting the update via Kies. Some do and some don't.... :(

I'm on T-mobile. This started over Christmas (as it was a christmas present). It resulted in me having the phone sent in for repair thrice. And then a new phone altogether getting sent out.

KIES hasn't helped.
No new upgrade made.

Thanks a bunch Samsung. NOT!
The problem only happens when i text people on 02. No other network which is strange and why Phones4u would not take responsibilty.

Im on T-mobile, contract.
Im getting the repeat Texts from 02 friends and from T-mobile friends, so the problem isnt just with 02 customers.

Its really cheesing me off now, Im having to turn my phone on silent at night time because of the repeat texts.

I have this phone on Vodafone UK. I've seen people have had problems when sending messages. I keep receiving the same message. I only seem to receive the same messages about 40 times from 02 and Orange numbers, about 100 times from T-Mobile and I never receive the same message from my home network (Vodafone)

any ideas?

What happens when you update via Kies V2?

I dont believe this kin shit, i think this stupid repeating texts has started again, ive just received the same text 4 times.Surely i cant be the only one, dont make no sense.Could be justa one off but i will see how it goes.

Sorry to be a real 'thicko' but this is my first experience of this type of phone. I've just plugged into Kies to resolve this text thing and it says there is a firmware update but when i try to download it it says that it needs 3000mb. Does this sound right to you? I haven't got that much memory even though I haven't got any music and only a few pics on the phone. Surely I don't have to buy another microsd card to increase the memory to update the software that is already on the phone!?

Lou123: Your problem is that your PC needs 3Gb free space, not your phone. Back up and delete some trash or borrow someone else's PC

I have just got my Europa, Vodafone contract and am having the same problem from the O2 network, the same message coming in, ranging from every few minutes to half hourly....any more info on how to solve this?

I got my europa on vodafone contract in december and started having this problem about 3 months ago, its started only happening on a friday night, then over the weekend, rang voda who gave me a code to put in (some call barring code) which worked for a while but then started up again. so rang back and they sent me a new handset out but now the problems even worse!!! im getting so many repeat texts (i got 134 texts off my boyfreind who is on O2 in 3 days!!!!!) and some of them dont come through.
its more annoying for me as i need my phone all the time as i have a 3month old baby, but if i keep it on at night it wakes my little one up sending me these stupid texts all the time!!! and plus a cant keep in contact with my boyf when hes away at work.
i rang samsung who basically told me i just had to wait for the problem to be sorted on voda??!!! (apparently its been sorted on o2), rang voda again and they sending me out a new sim card which i know wont work. and car[phone warehouse say t5heyll send it away for repair???
oh and also i downloaded kies and it says i cannot upload firmware on my device.
does anyone know where i stand with this?? and who is it i should be pestering? voda, carphone w house or samsung???? coz its driving me mad now :( :(

I am lucky enough to have a son who works with computers and has sorted this for me by following the link i will post below. It is a bit fiddley at first but the guide is straightforward (apparently) If you have a computer aufait relative or friend then maybe they can help. It downloaded the update which is what is needed and seems to have solved the problem!!! :):)
