Samsung galaxy note, only bad things?

but Blue2k it comes in blue!!!

Yeah, mine is supposed to be blue. I must admit that my blue cones must be tired or dying because I only see grey. Very fortunate that I think the grey looks really good.

Back to the topic of the OP: I think the phone is just great, other than one or two niggles that are Android/Samsung issues (easy to live with I have found). I thought that the size of the phone may have been an issue, but it fits perfectly in my hands and pockets. Never thought that I could do so much with a phone TBH.

A lot of reviews around that only focus on the positive points and all of them never really mention any pitfalls like the video playback issues (even the advertized review above fails to cover this) and the screen lottery, aside from those then a really great device.

The video issue is the biggest downer for me and Im getting a refund and will probably repurchase once it is absolutely fixed by samsung and not someone else.

What are the video playback issues ?

I'm colorblind for the most part so I see grey a bit as well, but boy do I love the white version. I'll be getting that.

I am long time android user (have had a ton of different premium android phones to try) and I love my Note. I don't have any screen issues with color banding and greying.

You can try Voodoo's Screen Tuner app to adjust things but I like how the phone looks as is.

Best Android Device I have had so far. :)

For some the physical size will clearly be an issue, for myself the GNote has freed me of the need to carry several devices and I really find it difficult to find fault with Samsung`s supersized offering, big it is, yet the GNote more than compensates with it`s tremendous usability and capabilities...

Same here. The Note is my fourth Android device (previous ones were Galaxy Tab 7', Dell Streak 5' and SGS2) and it is the best so far. It really combines a tablet and a phone and is a perfect travel companion. Had it for 6 weeks now and no complaints so far..

I sort of have an aversion to all things white thanks to certain restrictive fruit themed products. Call me wierd if you will :)

I see your point. I already have my Apple maniac friends giving me a hard time because the Note has a stylus. I'm sure they'll say that having a white gadget is copying Apple.

Just ask them to try to use their phones with gloves on and then have a good laugh as you wield your stylus. They will be running to get one.

I've had the Note for five weeks now and cannot complain about anything... The speaker is just as good as in SGS2, alarms and ringtones are easily audible even in noisy environment.
Hi Bro, I have my SGS2 and want to buy a Note. I am using the USB OTG cable for SGS2, want to know whether the same can be used for Note or I have to buy a new one for that.

I've had the Note for about 7 weeks now. I dumped my iPhone 4 for Note and couldn't be happier. Its a top class phone - No doubt. I would recommend this phone to anyone.

since the iPhone is the only smart phone i've ever had, posts like yours foots make me really hopeful and excited about getting my new Note with Android.

I came from an iPhone 3GS to Evo 4G which was Android 2.1 at the time and I've never looked back. I'm confident you will love it as well, especially as the Note is leaps and bounds beyond the Evo.

Same here, went from iphone to evo and the note is next. No regrets, don't worry you'll love being able to customize your phone as much as you like. And Tasker is one app you can't live without! Timeriffic is a good one also if Tasker is too complex (there is a learning curve to it).

I think you can, but I haven't tried it so cannot be sure. I sold my SGS2 the next day after buying the Note so didn't try it...

i am a phone freak and change phones quite frequently. before i have my note, i use iPhone mainly for using apps, email , browsing etc. i have been using note for two months now and it has become my main phone! so far as i know, many friends (surprisingly mainly gals in my case) change from iPhone to note.

so far , no other phone seems to be attractive enuf for me to change again!

I've had mine 3 days and selling SGS2 and Tab 10.1 on ebay already.

Only downside is its not quite as quick opening / waking from sleep and scrolling is a little laggy compared to s2. note is on 2.3.6.

Also one thing i don't like is that there seems to be no way to switch off the shutter sound when taking pic! Any solution to that?

With the Tasker app, you could program it to mute the phone when you launch the camera. When the camera is closed, it should restore to previous sound. Untested, but I assume this would work.

This is really easy to turn off. Go into the camera app and in the top left corner you will see the gear wheel icon which is the camera settings icon. Tap on that and then scroll down until you see the option to turn off the shutter click sound.
