Your eyes will thank me ;)Use 'BackLight!' App in the market. Then create a screen widget for BackLight! settings widget. Set the custom screen values to (0,0,0,0). Re-Assign the swipe-up/down actions of ADW-launcher to activate the BackLight! app.
Works like a treat.

As well try this:-

Hello

Thanks a lot for the reply. I tried the app you mentioned but it didnt seem to make any difference. :(

Before this app I was already using the "Dimmer" app by Geekyouup which reduce the brightness to 10 instead of the minimum available for Galaxy by Default (i.e. 30). Maybe the level at which dimmer brings it and the level of the backlight! app is the same.

I would be glad if you can check the dimmer app and let me know if the result is the same with the backlight! version. Because if it is then Dimmer is a very simple app as compared to others. Install the app. Make the desktop icon. Click it to go to lowest value. And it remember it all the time!

Regards.

I tried launcher pro, but it seems to drain battery more than touchwiz. My 90% charged sgs battery drained out in one night itself; switched back to touchwiz for now :)

There might be some other problem buddy, because i am using launcher pro from long time and i have never noticed any battery drain problem with it. Check if you are using edge or wi-fi or GPS continuously.

require help with couple of problems for my galaxy s phone
1) the phone does not connect in mass storage mode. when i select the mass storage mode it shows me two drives in my computer. when try to open the drives, the explorer simply hangs and i am required to restart the pc.

2) Samsung kies is showing a firmware upgrade available from i9000ddjf6, to i9000ddjg4. when i select to upgrade the firmware the software downloads the firmware and restarts the phone in recovery mode, then it simply gives an error "unable to connect in recover mode".

guys pls help really confused.
is there a problem with my phone? i had got it from alpha store mumbai.

I've installed it on \\D: and running on XP.
Will try doing it again on \\C: and keep everyone posted.
Windows 7 ain't possible at the moment.

Well here is the solution for your problem, which was also faced by me and got solved by the below mentioned solution.
Go to
Settings>SD Card and phone storage>interrnal SD Card
1) Unmount SD Card
2) Format SD Card
3) Mount SD Card back
and then voila problem solved, your SGS will connect to Kies.
But the only hitch here is that you will lose all data on the internal SD Card.
All the best, i'm sure this will solve your problem.

Hello everyone!

I connected my phone to Samsung Kies and it shows firmware upgrade is available. Currently my phone is running on DDJF3.

Now I have read somewhere that all data is deleted when firmware is upgraded? Is it correct? And what exactly is deleted? Phonebook, contacts, widgets, photos everything? And is there any easy way to backup all (I havent rooted my phone).

Also what is the latest firmware available and what advantages would I get if I upgrade it? Please let me know if there are any other important points also.

Thanks and regards.

I bought Samsung Galaxy S with a lot of excitement about its hardware features. I recently upgraded to DDJG4 firmware.
1. When I send a contact as a Name-card using messaging, it goes as a MMS and SMS. Thus, I end up paying Rs. 5 per message and not Rs. 0.10 which I pay for a SMS. Moreover, recipient of the SMS may not have GPRS connectivity on his phone.
2. When someone with a Nokia handset (Symbian OS), sends me a Business Card as SMS, the message is received on my phone as

Umm.. You should mention that the user will lose ALL data on the internal SD card!

That will solve only one problem. I have a few more besides the one altrady listed above.

1. Transfer over BT from Galaxy S to Galaxy S is troublesome.
2. Why do some applications start running all by themselves though I have not started these applications (like Mybackup Pro, Sprite Backup, Email, Call Recorder Voice Dialler, News Pro, Profile, Daily Briefing etc.)? These apps consume a whole lot of RAM.

Hi Friends..

Nice to be here .. I have bought a Galaxy S two weeks back here at kolkata and have been using it since them .. Not really a power user but rely heavily on browsing and exchange emails .. I am using TouchDown (licensed) for exchange email and found it to be really good apart from the fact that it is slow ...

I am currently on the firmware DDJG4, which I upgraded recently from DDJF6 through Kies running on Windows & 64 bit professional .. apart from the long time it took (roughly 1.5 hours) the upgrade was smooth ...

Now I am seeing in this forum that XFJM6 os really good and probably is the best at this moment. I can understand that this firmware is not released for our region and hence I would not be able to upgrade it through Kies.. I need to use ODIN for the same..

Have few questions and need help...

1. A link which shows the step by step instructions on how to do it using ODIN.. probably with some screen shots ..?

2. Since this OS is not for our region .. is it straight upgrade or we need to do some tricks here.. (I am asking this because for Blackberry OS upgradation for OS not targeted to specific carrier or regions, we need to delete an XML file, otherwise the OS would not work...), are there any tweaks which we need to do here also ..?

3. I hope XFJM6 would work with any carrier in India and would also connect to internet etc .. I am on Vodafone by the way with 499 data plan ...

Thanks in anticipation...
