Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

Hi Guys,

I facing a unique problem with Gtalk since few days (problem surfaced after I reset to factory default once). Issue is like this -
Previous to factory default reset, it used to display other guys message under my own message. Like -
A- hi
B- hi
A- how r u
B- I am fine.
A- How are kids
B- Fine

but now my screen shows two different part top and bottom. Other guys message always displayed on top and mine on bottom. This is very irritating since I have to scroll up to see his message. Something like this (same conversation above is displayed as)-

B- Hi
B - I am fine
B- Fine
A- Hi
A- How are you
A- How are kids

Gurus...Please help me to get back original mode. This is irritating me.
I saw similar issue faced by some ppl on XDA-developers forum, but nobody knows the solution.

Can someone who has TV out working for them, please tell me the cable you are using and were did you buy it from. I tried a couple of them which were lying in my home one of which was for my old Ipod classic which did not work. I tried all the color combinations with no luck. I heard that a Nokia ca-75u av cable works fine. Can somebody please confirm.

hey frends ..i just bought my galaxy S....its gud phone but m having some issues...like it is using my gprs connection automatically for certain things and it is costing me money....
2. how to change my gtalk id....i m unbale to change it pls tell me how to do it?

3. how to transfer my contacts from nokia phone...i hv transferred to PC and now they are in nbu format.

4. how to delete all of my contacts from galaxy S.....as they are being synchronised from email but i dont want them now...but there is no option to delete all contacts.

pls reply asap

You have to do some reghack and put the kies into test mode to upgrade it. I will try once i ll be back home. But for me the biggest problem is that i will have to use "BackPro" instead of "Titanium backup" to restore apps and settings.
But this ROM is still beta. So we ll have to watch if it is free from some serious bugs.

1. Download "APN OnOff" from the market. Use this widget to close ur edge or gprs connection.
2. I dont think you can change ur id from the one you used to sign into google account.
3. Extract all your contacts from .nbu file into .vcf format using any app. Search on google for that. Then put them into sdcard and go to contacts and import them (press menu for option)
or
if you still have your nokia with you than sync the contacts thru bluetooth from windows and all of your contacts will be backup in .vcf format on PC.
Then just import them to ur phone.
4.Download "Delete Contacts" or "Remove Contacts" app from the market.Its shame that sammy doenst give option to delete all the contacts. DOnt know if there is any hidden menu for that.
Or go to manage applications>Look for "Contact storage"> clear the data. I think it should also work. But its better to use the app from the market as i havent tried this method. So beware if this method delete anything else.

you can ask any samsung dealer to get you the tv out cable, most of them are compatible with one another, I had a Omnia 2 TV out cable and its working with with my GSG now
 
guys read somehwere that we need to put kies in test mode so as to get I9000XXJPC so anyone pls tell how to put Kies in the so-called test mode

and anyone from india updated to I9000XXJPC via kies ?
 
^^ The download was going SOOOOOO slow that I canceled it :|

There should be a Odin version out by tomorrow.. Ill wait for that.

press "firmware-upgrade" then press ctrl+alt+u+p.
You will get a pop up
 
oksy I did put kies into test mode but still see only JG4 and it says I already have the latest firmware...anyone able to see the new one ?

Ya i tried and i am able to see the froyo update but i am thinking how to take backup of my apps. My titatnium backup is of no use right now. So i am thinking that i ll start all the things from start.
Also i am thinking if nandroid backup will work coz froyo has different file structure for internal sd. I worried about that.

BTW Did you changed ur registries? its a must step.

Read this:--

Very stable and fast 2.2 release - Android @ MoDaCo

1. Open the kies.
2. Connect ur phone.
3. open Regedit.
4. Change the registries according to above link. Make sure you change for correct device number i.e the number which corresponds to ur phone.
5. Click on upgrade firmware.
6. Put kies in test mode.
7. You will get the froyo.

thanx bro....that apn on/off and contact remover worked fine.....but i am not done with contacts yet...as u said i synchronised my contacts via blutooth on my PC and they are stored in contacts folder in documents(windows vista OS)
but i dont know how to import them to my phone..i tried to connect galaxy via USB but not able to do so..i hv no SD card in my galaxy..pls tell me how to do it now
