can we record hd video in mp4 format ? I can see videos in 3gp format does anyone knows how to change the format of video recording?

It's available in Sangeetha Mobiles, Chennai @ Rs.28,850 including VAT. I got mine on Thursday. Everything works fine, but only after a factory reset. Initially the video recorder stuck at halfway and YouTube video playback lagged a bit. After doing the factory reset everything was smooth.

@saj_2001ind : I too tried to find the option to change the format to mp4 but i guess it is not possible. Somebody correct me if i am wrong.

@nanrk, In samsung showroom in rs.puram coimbatore.but to other dealers they said it will take 1 week. always in samsung showroom products are 1 to 2k higher than other dealers..not only mobile, but also tv and other appliances.i will update the price.. i am waiting for other dealers to get ..

16gb model means, internal memory itself 16GB...if you insert 16GB of your own card, total will become 16 int + 16 ext = 32 GB

iphone storage days gone :)

again for indian models they have 16GB model other countries who so ever had posted their reviews on net sim free version is only 8GB...

so for indians some advantage from samsung ...

Yes 16 GB extra external SD in addition to 16 GB internal phone storage. In reality it will be around 28 - 29 GB because of formatting and the way GB is calculated (1000*1000*1000 vs 1024*1024*1024)

guys, anyone know how to set different ringtone for different contacts in SGS ? a basic feature which smallest nokia phone has :)

Yes.. It does have that feature. Just select "contacts" from your home screen or from menu. Then select the contact you want to set ringtone for. Then press menu key. That will bring down menus (Edit contact, share, options etc.) .. select options.. and voila.

I still dont see change ringtone option in there / anyone SGS user saw it somewhere ?

well, I tried ringdroid, its wonderful app for creating ringtones, but when I assigned to a contact it does not work...

Buddy.. Let me write down steps again. I've checked it twice on my Nexus one and also on a desire which is running android 2.1 with HTC sense. You've touchwiz UI so I don't see much difference. Check out the steps again. Following steps are from nexus one.

1. Open contacts from your home screen icon or from menu.
2. Select (one tap/click on contact) contact which you want to assign a different ring tone. It will basically a view contact screen. (In HTC desire I can select ringtone at this stage)
3. Click on
mobil_btn_01.gif
(menu key) which is a touch button on your phone. After pressing it you'll see some options.
4. Select "Options" from menu
5. Click on ringtone (which will display a ringtones list available on your phone)
6. select desired ringtone. and voila.

step 4 is not "OPTION" for SGS, its "EDIT", when I click EDIT, there is no option to set ringtone....

you need to enable USB debugging from settings, then when you connect via usb cable to pc, it will install drivrers and on your phone in notification select mount...now u can browser your sd card contents on pc....
