Guys, I am having some problems lately with my SGS. The FM Radio never worked for me my phone is a month old now... I tried at different locations but it simply doesnt work...even tuning to manual frequency doesnt work.

secondly, I am not getting 'swipe glass to unlock' msg when I try to unlock my phone. I use to get this msg before. I did 'factory reset' but still not able to get this msg.

PS - My phone is stock. no mods so far

That was a unique feature available only to Window Mobile Phones. Neither iPhone, Symbian nor Android support this feature.

Wifi routers are not that expensive. You can also get a wifi usb stick to run wifi off your computer. Just think of it as a slightly more expensive USB cable.

If you are using a laptop, get connectify. It allows your laptop wireless card to act as a wifi access point. (Doesn't work on all laptops though. But it's free, so if you have a laptop, do give it a try.)

Yes man...3D rendering is such a heavy task you need very high config...otherwise you won't be able to complete your work within deadline.

That's some bloody weird problems, especially the swipe glass bit. Why didn't you return your phone for a replacement at the beginning?

Trying updating the firmware via KIES.

There's no direct way to do this. The android market can only be accessed by an android phone. Sometimes you can find app files (extension .apk) uploaded onto file sharing sites (mediafire, megaupload, rapidshare) by other people, and the best place to look for them would be in forums about android phones (not this one though). Otherwise, I am afriad that just isn't possible.

Definitely mate....in fact Max, Maya will not even run without graphics card. I have Nvidia GTX 460...a combination of DirectX 11, PhysX, and CUDA technologies with OpenGL 4. It's sufficient for me at least *now*

Hi .. i need a little help , i downloaded the ddgj4 file from megauploads.com but when i unrar it , i only get 2 files ... add_odd.tar and ss_dl.dll file ... how do i use odin now ... there is only one .tar file ...

On a side note , kies installs but doesnt run on my pc (xp sp3) ... get a fatal error and kies crashes ... Hence i need to use odin to flash newer firmware ... Any suggestions/help would really be appreciated by this n00b ..

dude the exact steps are posted in this thread read through them before using ODIN and be careful in checking items in ODIN tool, ppl here got some problems if they check some boxes, guys have posted the ODIN screenshots also here so yeah spare some time and read the posts here

In ADB I saw a command connect <host>:<port> -which connects to a device via TCP/IP.
Is it possible to share my broadband connection using this command ? .....as I do with my old computer using TCP/IP and DNS.....

Very interesting but the above command is to connect android over ethernet not on usb.I dont think you can do yet on android phone.But tell me if you come across any solution.i might be wrong though.

This for starting the ADB daemon on a TCP port instead of listening on USB. It would be handy if don't want to tie your phone with a USB cable while doing operations using ADB. So if have your WiFi connected, you can access adb shell/execute commands from PC over the air (no cables required).

From PC to SGS ?? No i don't think so. Tethering works the other way.

Friend, yesterday I have ordered for WGR614v10.
BUT, a very bad news mate....today afternoon I switched my phone off...and in the evening switched it on....phone was powered on...boot sound was also there...but no display !!! Absolutely black !!! Don't know why !!! My phone was rooted...when I saw it's working perfectly except the display...I flashed DDJG4 without seeing anything....just got the reboot sound and a green signal on ODIN...that's all. I have sent my phone to the dealer. He has assured me to return a new sealed pack device. You pray for me friend

Double check your WiFi login details are correct or your WiFi security enables new devices to connect.

Actually i have tried it in my car that was mentioned in the post above, it did not work, so just wanted to know if it works with some other car stereo mine is a Hyundai Nippon, just drilling down to the root cause.

I have not tried connecting my SGS to my car stereo which is also a Nippon; but I can tell you this: "Nippon car audio systems suck". I bet you got it for free when you bought the car. It will work only if you connect low capacity disks/cards. It has never worked when I try to connect any high (>2GB) capacity drives.

You can do it using fake APN manually or there are some good utility applications like "Extended Controls" or "Quick Settings".

Hi all,
Ive been reading and following this forum for the last couple of weeks . Lurking in the shadows.
Bought the galaxy s last month and im incredibly pleased with it, except for few minor irritants ; the lag etc.
I know i can root the phone and click the lag fix but im waiting for a little more time to pass to see how stable it is.
Also a gentleman has had his Imei number changed due to some goof up and another one has a black screen now so im just waiting a little longer and i will root it soon.
The one problem Ive had that i havent been able to fix is the MMS
i cannot send or receive MMS on airtel in mumbai
if a friend sends me an mms there is a button that says download, when i click on it it says downloading but nothing happens
I have spoken to Airtel multiple times manually fed all the settings but to no avail.
yesterday i called samsung and they sent me to a service centre in goregaon where the alleged technicians had no idea about the new handset

My other APN mobile office works just fine.
When i goto Access Point Names Page
there are two
Mobile Office ............................................( ) Green Light here
airtelgprs.com
AirtelMMS.................................................nothing here
airtelmms.com

Should there be a green light on the second APN a well?

guy i had upgraded my SGS via kies on the stock version i was able to play 720 p .mkv files but now at times it plays n at times it say unsuported format wat the hell has samsung created ....???

no after sales suport as well no FAQ on thier websites are we all suppose t try break n check

I haven't tested it out completely though. I have wifi, so I downloaded ASTRO file manager from the market. So, I just had to copy the apk to my sd memory and run it with ASTRO.

Edit: I used Kies by the way and installing it was such a pain that I almost gave up. Probably the trick is not to!

u can just copy paste into a folder on ur comp n den copy paste the folder onto ur mobile n click on the set up it'll automatically install
