Hi guys, I'm Matt. Recently I have noticed that my battery barely lasts a day. I don't play games, I have power saving mode constantly on and the brightness right down. I have noticed that on settings where it says 'battery' the screen usage says '72%'. Now, I fail to understand why it's that high when the brightness is down? I'm thinking of buying a new battery for it but I'm not sure if hat's the problem. Also, I can only use one charger on it, whenever I plug even a specific samsung charger in it doesn't charge. Sometimes the battery percentage will go down when I'm charging it and I have to take it out and plug it back in again and I'm really tired of it. Please can someone help me out. Thanks.

Hey Matt, welcome to the AndroidForums!

Just wanted to let you know that I've moved your thread over here to the SGS3 area where the folks that also have your device can share their experiences and tips.

There's obviously lots of factors that can affect battery life--a few of which you've already mentioned--like live wallpapers, rogue apps (running in the background and/or keeping a wake-lock), cell radio signal strength, etc.

I'm sure the SGS3 members in here will have some device-specific ideas that will hopefully help you out.

Best of luck!

:)

Not sure about the screen usage, but keep checking "battery" every time it seems to run down. In my case, the gallery seems to be eating up battery although I've never accessed it. When I "force stop" gallery, the battery drain stops. If the phone starts feeling hot you know something is wrong and the battery is on is way down. Good luck.

Might be a bit extreme, but have you tried a battery pull. Or if that fails a factory reset to see if this solves the problem?

I had the same problem with Photo Gallery. A recent update to some Google App turned on the Google Photo sync. Settings > accounts > Google and hit your google account. This will show all of the services Google is trying to keep up to date. After I unchecked sync google photos the problem went away.
Hope this helps.

Hi Matt and everyone.

My Galaxy S3 had poor battery life from day 1. I tried all the tips posted on this and other forums with no success. The phone was still in warranty so I contacted Samsung. They sent me a prepaid postage label and 8 days later the phone returned with a new main board. Battery life is now exceptional. So far, 75% charge left after 40 hours. Clearly there can be problems with the hardware so give Samsung a call - they are very helpful.

Thank you for a wonderfully helpful first post, Greg! :)

Makes you wonder if there's just some devices that have these "quirks" (probably explainable by someone savvy enough with micro electronics (certainly not me :))) that would account for these odd occurrences which could never be solved with software.

Thanks again and welcome to AF!

:)

I am having exactly the same problems now, although it has got progressively worse over the last couple of weeks. I have not installed any new programs, etc ...

who/what did you contact at Samsung? do you have a number ?
