Samsung Galaxy S3 General Information and Troubleshooting FAQ

Sorry, I am not much for scouring through forums for the solution, because after awhile they all tend to look the same.

My problem: I picked up an S3 yday and started listening to music via pandora/winamp. I would set the phone down, both upwards and facing downwards. It seems when the song ended (on either player), there was a long pause and the music did not continue or switch to another song. When I picked up the phone to turn it on, the next song started up. For Pandora it was because the phone had to find connection, even tho I was on WiFi and 3G. For winamp, the songs started as soon as I accessed the main screen. Just odd and frustrating compared to my last phone.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hmm i dont use those apps but they should really play with the screen off.

Id start a new thread with a good title that grabs attention of people who use the apps mate. I dont think many people look here tbh

Tried rooting with the S3 toolkit, and my phone is stuck in the Odin download position. I tried recovery mode, but it won't stay. I need to wipe the phone completely, and reinstall the stock 4.1.1 rom. Maybe the unrooting process will work. Anyone have an suggestions, besides getting a new phone? Thanks.

Put a post in the AT&T root forum mate and hopefully someone can help. It sounds fixable so dont worry and good luck

You may be activating 1 of these two motion features.

Check to see if wifi is set to sleep when screen is off. The players may not jump to 3g without user prompting, especially if your 3g is as slow as mine. Beyond that it very well could be the software designed to save bandwidth in the case of Pandora and your battery in the case of Winamp especially if it doesn't detect any motion. Personally I've played Google Music Player on battery for several hours in a row without touching the phone. There were a few long pauses but nothing more than 15 seconds. That was on wifi.

When you say stuck in download do you mean its froze up? You said you tried recovery so I'm guessing you're able to get out of it. Was the downloaded South successful ? When you say recovery won't stay I'm assuming you mean it reverts back to stock bootloader on your first reboot. That's a recent change to the rooting game thanks to Samsung. You need to yank the battery after you're done with the download then put the battery back and boot directly into custom recovery. From there I believe there are more files which need to be flashed via the new custom recovery ( from archive files placed in the root directory of your SD card) only then can you avoid the recovery reverting back to stock. I recently un rooted, flashed stock 4.1.1 to clean up some corrupt Android issues and then immediately re rooted after picking up the 4.12 ota update. Hopefully I'm remembering this correctly but I do know if after putting the battery back you happen to miss hitting recovery and actually boot OS it will revert the bootloader. Doesn't sound like your situation situation is hopeless by any means unless other things occurred you didn't mention. Good luck! Should probably mention I'm on Sprint so if there's something completely different about rooting AT&T I apologize in advance. disregard.

Try hanging up the call

There's a very limited type of multitasking you can do while on a call. Pretty much browsing static text web pages lists Calendar excetera. Anything approaching multimedia and you can kiss that call goodbye. I wish there was some warning message instead of the dropped call. first time it happened to me I ended up talking to myself for a solid 30 seconds while playing with my new weather app.

Just googled to find about android and samsung galaxy S3. Just read the funny article www.crazyandroid.com/perfectly-made-couple-android-samsung-galaxy-s-iii/

Now I got a query...!!! Do I need to go and buy for Samsung galaxy S3 or should I wait till Samsung galaxy S4.

Appreciate your time and efforts.
Please give your feedback.

Welcome to ANDROID FORUMS,MANASBAI!

I always recommend getting the most/best phone that you can afford,or,are willing to spend.More often than not,the newer models are better than their predecessors & this will no doubt be the case for the S4 vs the S3.

A phone is something we all have w/us each & every day,w/most users here,to a larger extent than the typical user.
It may be more expensive, but, the one-time price is small potatoes compared to months,or even years,of regret, wishing you'd pony upped a few extra $ for a better phone.

PLEASE! I HARDBRICKED MY PHONE. IT WONT TURN ON AND IT SHOWS ABSOLUTELY NO SIGNS OF LIFE, I CAN'T EVEN GET IT TO GO INTO DOWNLOAD MODE. I TRIED TO INSTALL THE KODECROM BLACK 4 CUSTOM ROM AND IT JUST FLAT OUT PLAINLY DIED. MY PARENTS WILL CUT MY NUTS OFF IF THEY FIND OUT. I already tried looking for tools such as odin and according to some people, i am utterly screwed. I CANT SIMPLY LIVE WITHOUT THIS PHONE I HAVE EVERYTHING ON IT!!!:(:(:(:(:(:(

Welcome to AF!
Sorry to hear about your device but as funky said, can you boot into recovery?
Either you need a usb jig (to force the phone into download mode) or j-tag:
