Using apple ipad was really good but now people say that samsung galaxy tab is really better than apple ipad, why you all say that, why samsung galaxy tab is superior than apple ipad. anyone can explain about it.
 
comparison is good, i think samsung galaxy tab is much more compact and elegant than apple ipad. I got your information, i have another question, does samsung galaxy tab supports future versions of Android like gingerbread and Honeycomb?
 
The Galaxy Tab will be running Android 3.0 on release.

That's the major advantage :)
 
Samsung - Pro is front camera and Android.
iPad - Pro is does not REQUIRE carrier/contract. Is sold as WiFi only or as 3G pre-paid data.

That's the two big things that stand out to me between them. If the Tab was not sold via wireless carrier or did not require a data contract and was priced similar or less than iPad I'd look at buying it. Will have to wait and see how it is released in the US (since it seems it will only be sold via Verizon or Sprint for now).
 
With a price like that.....they can keep it. I saw something else that made me think twice but the price would be the nail in the coffin.

I wonder how would a carrier offer this on a contract if u already have phone service with them? I know I wouldnt waste a phone upgrade for a Tablet.

The Apple iPad incorporates a touch-sensitive IPS display that measures 9.7 inches across. It's undoubtedly a gorgeous screen, boasting a resolution of 768 x 1,024 pixels.
Samsung has opted for a smaller display in the Galaxy Tab. It's still a decent size at 7 inches, which is a full 2 inches bigger than the Dell Streak tablet-phone. It gets closer to the iPad's specification with a resolution of 600 x 1,024 pixels, which looks superb on an LCD this size.

With its 7-inch display, the Galaxy Tab is obviously more compact. Samsung's quoted dimensions are 190.09 x 120.45 x 11.98mm, which makes it thinner than Apple's device. The Galaxy Tab weighs a mere 380g, which is almost half the weight of an iPad.

As you'll know by now, the Apple iPad is available in two versions, one with 3G networking and one without. We'll use the basic 16GB 3G + Wi-Fi version in this example. It means that Apple's lust-object features data-only 3G/HSDPA connectivity, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR.
The Galaxy Tab arguably has a better specification. It also packs 3G/HSDPA (up to 7.2Mbps), but like the Dell Streak, the Samsung tablet can be used to make phone calls (via a Bluetooth headset) and to send/receive SMS/MMS data. The addition of 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 complete a great specification.

Again, using the basic 3G + Wi-Fi iPad in this comparison, both entry-level models feature 16GB of internal memory. Of course, like Apple's iPhones, the iPad lacks any sort of expansion slot so you're stuck with 16GB if you opt for that model. If you demand more storage, you'll need to look at the 32GB or 64GB models.

In contrast, you can expand the 16GB of memory in the basic Samsung Galaxy Tab (a 32GB variant will also be available). Like its Galaxy S smartphone, the Tab features a microSD slot and will support memory cards up to 32GB. This will boost the overall capacity of a 16GB model to 48GB and elevate the roominess of a 32GB Tab to 64GB.

In terms of performance, it's hard to separate the two. Both can rev up a 1GHz engine - the iPad is powered by Apple's own A4 chip, while the Galaxy Tab uses a ARM Cortex A8-based 'Hummingbird' processor. It also gets some extra graphical grunt from a PowerVR SGX540 core.
The big difference is in the software. Apple newest updates to the already impressive iOS4 will include a new Game Center, TV rentals, iTunes Ping functionality and AirPlay wireless streaming. Apple's App Store is also a colossus, boasting an unrivalled 250,000 apps.
The Galaxy Tab, meanwhile, runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) and can match the iPad for multi-touch control, pinch-to-zoom and general speediness. The Android Market might have fewer apps (around 70,000+ at last count), but Android still boasts one thing that the iPad doesn't have - Flash 10.1 support.

Oh, how misinformed are you? lol. that's the european price you're seeing for the Tab. Ipads go for the same price there. It's ridiculous. But once it gets subsidized here in the states, the price will likely drop to around 500.

I wonder who wrote this article? It has grammatical errors and it has been using the wrong words all over the place. For example, "Samsung galaxy Tab is really a smart phone but Iphone cannot be used as a phone directly", what?!?! I think the author was trying to say iPad and not iPhone.

It is a total lack of attention to details, and it affects the credibility.

The person who posted that price is an Apple fanboy who constantly lies on these forums to promote Apple products. Don't listen to anything he says, wait for real information.
 
I did some reading and the prices might not be that bad, especially if carriers figure out a way to offer these on contract and not have it affect current users phone contracts.
 
it will be sold via carriers with contracts I'm sure. And if they do that it will be done just like they do data cards or netbooks... require a separate contract just for that device and a $60/mo data plan. Latest rumor from the WSJ is $200-400 for the device subsidized.

First of all, we all need to think like the rest of the world. We need to think of the TCO (Total cost of ownership). This includes the incurring commitment costs.

It is only a worthwhile if you can get a data plan for $20-30 and a subsidy price of $300 or less. Even then, that is highly unlikely.

My Verizon Mi-Fi is $60 a month/5GB. It is $40 a month for 250 MB on Verizon.
So think about it, the normal 5GB data plan is $1440 over a period of 2 years on top of the price of the device. $1440 + 200 = 1660 or $1440 + 400= 1840.

It would have to be 1/2 that. Maybe $30 for 200 megabytes a month with no voice plan.

But I really don't see how any of that is possible because: It does have telephony so you can't just get data-only. It does have a phone dialer.

The subsidy price would still need to be more than the Galaxy phone as quoted by a top-level exec at Samsung to the Korea Times (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB200...5467060590811950.html?mod=index_to_businesses)

So if we do the math of the TCO cost:

$400 subsidy plus $30 a month/2 yr contract ($720) = $1120
$400 subsidy plus $20 a month/2 yr contract ($480) = $880

$300 subsidy plus $30 a month/2 yr contract ($720) = $1020
$300 subsidy plus $20 a month/2 yr contract ($480) = $780

Lets assume they can get it as low as $200 for the phone on subsidy.

$200 subsidy plus $30 a month/2 yr contract ($720) = $920
$200 subsidy plus $20 a month/2 yr contract ($480) = $680

The above figures are very, overly optimistic. I have not seen any data plan that low for a dedicated device. I am assuming Samsung can strike a deal like that.
They're saying $200-400 subsidy price. In any scenario, it is way, way, way too expensive. I am being overly optimistic with a $20/30 data plan.

Now, the only way this thing will even fly is Verizon offers $5.00 a month (200 megabyte tethering off your Galaxy smartphone). There would be a specific app for Galaxy phone that only allows a Galaxy tablet to tether to it.
 
Yep, I'd much rather they have a wifi-only model and pick up the MiFi from Virgin Mobile that is no contract and only $10 for 100mb or $40/mo for unlimited data. Wonder what the full retail cost will be if you'd be able to purchase it out-right with no service to just use it as wifi-only (turn off the 3G radio).

Well, one is a phone and one is a tablet so you have to want to carry something around that big and use a bluetooth headset for talking. The Tab has a much better GPU (like the Sprint Epic 4G) and some special apps made by Samsung to take advantage of the larger screen.

Thanks for your suggestion, let us after the release of samsung galaxy tab, we can anyway think about using it or finding out mistakes is not a possible thing now.
