Help Samsung S2 system update

My phone updated last night (which I was happy to go along with). So I'm now on Android 4.1.2.

Apart from the design, which I think is pretty poor (but what do I know - I'm only a designer), all of my apps that were neatly arranged into folders with the folders named and in alphabetical order, are now outside of folders and scattered randomly across my screens. The folders themselves have gone.

So I now have the task of creating new folders for all of my apps and then manually sorting the apps into the relevant folders. This seems to me to be stupid in the extreme. Is there anything I can do to prevent this happening with any future updates? Unless I've done something wrong, this looks like a really poor piece of work by Google.

You probably got a system update of TouchWiz. It depends however on how you updated. I update via Kies and never experience any trouble with arrangements. You could use a different launcher if you don't like the current design and choose from many available themes.

Also, Samsung made your update, not Google.

Your problem has nothing to do with Google, it's strictly a Samsung goof. I don't know any way to make certain it won't happen again, you just have to hope Samsung gets it right.

Thanks for all the replies.

I've finally managed to get everything back to how I want it, but what a complete mess of an update! All of my e-mails had also been removed and I had to set up all the account information from scratch.

As someone fairly new to Samsung and Android, having moved over from iOS, to say I'm unimpressed with the update would be an understatement. I'll give it time, but this simply wouldn't have happened with an Apple update.
