Accessories Samsung Vibrant Cases

I have the T-Mobile gel case and it's alright, but I just ordered the Case Mate Barely There case. It won't be nearly as much protection as the gel case, but it's something and I really like the size of the phone bare but I don't want it to be completely caseless. I may also pick up the Body Glove one. I'll post pics of the Barely There case once it arrives.

That is an interesting concept but I would still be concerned about bezel damage if the phone did a face plant. I love that it matches the phone's form factor though. Let us know how you like it please.

That Barely There case looks like a knock off of the Mesh Case. I think the Mesh Case has the edge on aesthetic.

Can't speak for the Bare There, but the Mesh Case wraps around the bezel with a .02"-.03" raised lip. So there's a gap in between the screen & the case. I have my phone facing down on the table most all the time.

I don't like the Mesh Case because of the holes in it. The Barely There care gives people a nice alternative.

Also, this Tmobile gel case is bothering me so much that I went ahead and ordered the Barely There case to give it a try. I'll post up my review when I get it!

Just got the Barely There case. I love it. As you can see, it is indeed barely there. I'm very careful with my phone and I wasn't planning on having this case for shock absorbency, so this is all I need. If you drop and it and lands screen-side down, it's probably the same as dropping it with no case at all. However, it does add a nice and sleek layer of protection on the underside. Hopefully the photos work.

I like this barely there case but I need bezel protection... I already have a nice dent on my bezel from a drop... the screen is fine though with no scratches or anything like that.

Also, my local TMO store said they'd be getting more Vibrant cases next week. I still may invest in the Body Glove case just to have the option, but I'll wait to see what else the store gets.

Sorry to hear about the dent in the bezel... :( It seems likely in a Vibrant-faceplant-onto-a-hard-surface which is why I want bezel protection as well. Yours isn't the first instance of this and in at least one case the screen was damaged as well. The bezel is attractive, but very vulnerable.

yeah kinda sucks that there is a good size dent now but at the same time it will be covered when i can get my hands on a decent slider case. the bezel is more of a distraction to me... it shines in my eyes in sunlight.

I really want that SGP slider case!

how's the 'pocket test' with this case?

cool i didnt know speak* was making cases for the vibrant... my buddy has one for his iPhone4 and it survived a 7 foot drop onto cement... the case and the phone are both intact.

I have the Body Glove case from T-Mobile with the chrome look bezel front. It's solid enough but too thick for my liking. I'm waiting on that SGP slider case or might try out a premium silicone case.

We need more post like this, also ordered some things from ebay that I will put up here. Which is basically two cases, one hard case and one silicon one (so much washing for the silicon one), screen protectors for some dollars and last is generic armband. If this work I will make a thread about it, so you can use the dimensions and find eventually other armbands for the Vibrant you can use.

Do not worry about a screen protector. All of the Samsung Galaxy S series phones have RIDICULOUS scratch protection materials for the screen. I watched a youtube video of one of the phones being hacked away with a set of keys, a wood screw (sharp point), change, and a plastic-bag filled with pointy metal long shake test... all with high res shots of zero damage. These were serious strikes/swipes on the screen to, you could see/hear the impact of each scratch. This is WITHOUT any after market screen protection. Zero damage to the glass.

The only thing that managed to scratch it was model-kit exacto knife with VERY firm pressure applied to the tip of the blade. Even then, the scratch looked barely visible with an extreme close-up and angle-view.

Since seeing this video, i took my screen protector off and just kept my phone in my pocket, sometimes with keys and change. After over a month of daily rough use, the screen is perfect.

Im am sick of seeing this video refered and people thinking this screen is scratch proof....
it is tempered glass which is very scratch proof but it WILL get scratches from dirt/sand particles! Sand is silica and is the same hardness and will scratch your screen... in fact it has scrathced my vibrant here recently... im not saying that it will happen to you but it can very easily.

As good as it can be. The case is really super thin and it doesn't even leave a bulge in my (slim but not skinny) jeans. Also, not one fingerprint on the case.

thanks, but i was actually talking about whether or not it clings to the inside of a pocket and collects lint like the rubberized cases do or if it slides out pretty easily and clean.

thanks!

I just got THIS $5.00 eBay case in the mail today (ships from California) and while the color is a bit more "melon-y" than I was expecting (I like light/baby pinks not hot pinks) it does a decent job of 'customizing' the phone - because I don't think any of these cases really protect the phones much.

It's a hard plastic that 'snaps' together at the (obvious) seam and has a bit of a rubberized texture (as opposed to smooth/shiny/slippery)

Here are a few pics:

No, its not just "tempered glass" - do some research. Here is a good starting point for you.

Galaxy S screens using Gorilla Glass

It may no be "scratch proof", but even a diamond isnt if enough force is applied. But its definately strong enough to stand up to dirt and sand particles.
