SMS Backup

[Deleted User]

SMS Backup+ will back up your SMS/MMS/Call log to your Gmail account, which is convenient because then you can search it:

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync

SMS Backup and Restore is a little more simple, it just backs up your SMS to your SD Card:

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore

Both will restore the messages from their respective backup locations.

I use Google Voice. I miss out on MMS messages, but plain old text messages work fine, and I don't have to pay Verizon more money for texting. Bonus: All of your text messages are automatically archived and can be searched from a browser on your home computer.
