I recently flashed the netarchy 4.3.1 havs sbc kernel to my fiancee's phone and mine. Has been 2 days and I leave it on charger all night without any heat build up so far. I would like to take a poll on how many people using this kernel have had no problems...how long they have used kernel...if they leave it charging all night...or how they use it. Also would like to hear how many people have had a real problem....not that they heard this or that...but have had something actually happen adversely to the battery or phone caused by using an SBC kernel. Thanks all

no issues. charge it over night anywhere from 6-12 hours....depending on how lazy I am

been using them for several weeks, always from netarchy..someone I trust

I have been using that kernel(cfs) for about 2 weeks and no issues. Charging from 6-10 hours depending on weekday or weekend. Going to try the 4.3.2 version in the next day or so though. Setcpu to smartass max 1152 min 245.

I just got up, phone has probably been at full level with green light on for at least 6 hrs. Turned phone off...pulled battery layed it on my bare skin and battery feels cold to touch I.E. A-febrile. If sbc kernel is over charging battery would it not at least be warm. By the way I now go at least 1 hr of use till battery drops to like 97% used to be after 5 mins I would be down to 90%. Coud it be that you have more of a chance of overcharging or heat build up in stock 1500mah battery. It seems to me that the 3500mah batteries are now just getting an actual full charge...does that make any sense

stock batt running sbc kernel v7 or V8 SBC for Netarchy's CFS More Aggressive 4.1.9.1 dont recall and on weekends its on the charger for over 12 hrs and no probs!!!

LOVE ME SOME SBC~

I was running the SBC 4.1.9.1v.7 for about a month. And like most have said, I think it did damage my battery....this may be placebo. But I did get the same performance reference 100% but after it came off of 100%, it would drop rapidly. Please realize my wife has an EVO and I set hers up the same way I do mone. She has been complaining about poor battery performance for about 2 weeks now.....so much so that she took her charger to work yesterday and had never felt the need up until this point. Anyway, she is a completely unscientific example BUT she is real and it does affect her.

I am now running Miks 4.4 with the stock #15 and am amazed.
I put the 4.3.2 no SBC on her phone and it seems to be running fine although I just did this and she doesn't have the trust in it yet.

FWIW....YMMV!!!!

I would vote somewhere in the middle. Hesitant to try due to all of the warnings in the forums and electrical engineers commenting on how dangerous this can be. Yet....so many have tried and have not had issues. Having said that, I probably still won't try as I've found pretty good battery life with CM6 and Zendroid CFS and on the Sense side using a Netarchy non-SBC kernel with various ROM's. I don't want to chance having to replace my battery sooner if this kernel has the potential to reduce overall life span due to pushing it over the designed limit. Unless there is an official release of this type of kernel I'm sticking to non-SBC.

First off thanks for your input. But most people have NOT said sbc damaged there battery or shortened its life. Have you replaced your batteries in both phones or just switched kerenls. And how is your battery life now. Thanks

I ran Netarcy 4.2.1 SBC around when it first came out. It stayed on 100% much longer than usual but would drop rapidly during use....even more so than when I would use the same kernel w/o SBC. Since then I've switched back to just using a Netarchy kernel w/o SBC, and my overall battery life is back to normal. That's just my experience with it. I have a stock battery btw.

never had longevity issues with sbc..BUT have had them with some Netarchy kernels...by his own admittance there were one or two that were just too agressive and were hogging power...and then there is the whole prl theory as well

currently missing my sbc kernel... running some tests right now so modding very little these days :(

I've noticed my battery always dropping quickly while in use using NA kernels with governor set to "smartass", even more so while using sbc kernels BUT setting my governor to "conservative" and keeping a screen off profile has helped out a lot. What kernel are you using now?

Stock 15 right now on fresh 3.5. This kernel blows losing 20ish % an hour...screen off then all of the sudden it will go 2 hours and drop 2%. The one kernel I used with awesome results was na 4.1.9 with only a screen off profile.

No Havs, right? I'm going back to a no havs na 4.3.2 cfs kernel w/ suv right now and seeing how it fairs.

Never havs ....never ever ever. I am positive that is why the stock kernels suck. Well part of it anyway
