Root SBC Kernels

I have a few questions about the sbc kernel. It sounds like the concern is overcharging. If that is the case, doesn't over charging result in higher battery temps. If so then why can you not have a temp alarm set for battery temp, or a program that charts the temp of the battery over time to see whats going on before, durning and after charging. And last question, do all sbc kernels trickle charge or do some do it different ways. Thanks

true ... though everything was fine after unrevoked 2-3 updates ago..why the issues now... my thought is back on the variables. unrevoked's method of s-off had not changed through all of those flashes. that variable was constant.

I am rooted again via unrevoked now. I couldn't find a working dload for the things needed to do the eng bootloader method.

True. I'm not sure you can downgrade to eng bootloader once you have hboot 2.10, anyway. I seem to recall reading about how you could, but once you get up to hboot 2.02, it's generally not downgradable. Anyway, it was just a thought.

My phone didnt care for the Sbc kernals... I used them for about a 2 weeks and i didnt see what all the rave was. Just like akazabam, i have better battery life without them.

yeah...i have some pretty interesting theories right now about some ongoing issues people are having...I just don't have the know how (yet) to prove anything

basically some other non phone real world events have me looking deeper into the roms/kernels/etc we are flashing..basically anything that has been "developed" by someone.

one constant across the board has been that earlier versions of ROMS X y and Z worked wonderfully...but as these ROMs were enhanced in line with OTA updates...things started going haywire. Many of us have believed and pushed..don't OTA update...run a new ROM incorporating the update.

My theory is along the lines of this
How does a dev update/upgrade their ROM when an OTA comes out?
a. start from scratch with the OTA
b. add to their previous ROM, an overlay of OTA on rom version "last" + new tweaks
c. a combination of both

much like I suspect with the sbc kernels...some of these people/devs could potentially be making changes along the lines of b and c...with oversights. For instance change this variable for that result but not considered how this one variable may affect a number of other variables all centered on other changes made by HTC/Sprint in the update.

Fix one and break three.

like I said...I was "just thinking"
my phone has been flashed sooooo many times, done properly every time. Things worked pretty well up until recently, right around the 3.70 update. After talking with Azakabam I realized I have NEVER since the first OTA done an OTA update...I have just flashed newer ROMS.

so...what we came up with was the idea to unroot, flash the stock ruu, and update up to current via OTA then root.

I have done this and I tell ya what..so far..much of what was broke..ain't broke no more
---at least after about 8 hours of playing and messing that is.

what I want to do now is really compare some things..and in the process cook my own ROM... it is just going to take me some time to do so.

I think that is a very elementary example of chaos theory....and you may be correct!

my afternoon stats from battery monitor widget while plugged into my laptop charging, playing mp3's via poweramp, txting, and emailing.

i am on cm6.1.2 and using savage kernal 1.6 WITH sbc.

nice font, is that stock on CM? or is that a theme or font pack that you are running?

edit nm just saw your signature, do those font downloads work on sense roms too?

I'm not a expert at anything...but those temp readings during the charge don't look extream to me...am I wrong. I'm going to download the pay version of this program and enable alarms then try one of the sbc kernels. Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for.

welcome. over at xda, they are saying that if the phone stays above 4.2v, over time, the battery will corrupt. who knows. im keeping this sbc cause it has by far been the best kernel since ive rooted.

from what i read when these first came out,

a proper working sbc is "supposed" to have a precautionary measure that prevents high temp charging and measures to prevent the phone from going too far over 4.2v

First and for mmost I'd like to thank eevery single individual that has ever contributed to the android ccommuniity....here pocket geeks or xda.... now the issue aat hand I've been using SBC kernels non stop full time on my evo with and withwithout a mugen power batter6 as well aas my girls evo runs SBC on a stock battery as well aas my best friend also I have hik running sbc.... I use the same kernel across eevery single Tom I use ever since i cake across the sbc thread.... i admit i got spooked and switfued for like aa day then i ssaid fu.. it and figured of was wworth it because the hattery improvement was so drastic... now neither of my other evo user complain aabout battery life or performance or overheating which was previously an issue..... my phone has over heated 1 time using navigation....i switched to a different ron and I havient been able to duplicate this since...I currently am using SBC 4.2.2 because it has the interactive governer.... 4.3 sbc is awesome too but I prefer 4.2 4.3is being ran on the other 2 devices.. I hope this helps people because I haven't had a problem and I never turn my phone off u less to flash something g new which I haven't done I nearly a week!! Fyi if ur getting g randdom rebooted move dalvik to cache partition ;-) the other 2 eco users just use the phones so there configuration is fixed versus myself I test different Roms and stuff time to time...
