correct :) once you have drivers you should be good to go. :smokingsomb:

the whole process is fairly fast when youve done it a few(hundred ) times. i could prolly unlock, install recovery, and flash superuser in less than 10 minutes. being cautious and making sure youve read everything,it will prolly take you considerably longer the first time. just depends on the individual. it may take you 15-30 minutes or it could take you a couple hours. :)

I may be posting in the wrong place but since this is where I began I thought I'd give it a shot.

I have the HTC Rezound and I used this method to root my phone including the HTCdev bootloader unlock. I kept s-on and am on the Gingerbread stock rom.

It's been working great for quite a while. Now my home buttons at the bottom of the phone are acting up which is a hardware issue and my provider is sending me a new phone. I'm concerned once they get this one back I will get charged since it's been unlocked and rooted.

Is there any way I can avoid complications? Since S-on is still there is there anyway to get it back to "locked" status and will that even make a difference or am I just out of luck?

Thanks

Unfortunately, you cannot get back to locked while s on. You can relock and run an ruu to get rid of root, but relocked is the best you can do with the bootloader.

Lots of folks have sent in unlocked and relocked phones and not had issue, but the reality is you agreed that unlocking the bootloader may void "all or parts of your warranty" ,so we could not gauarantee one way or the other if you'd have prollems.

Best bet for peace of mind is to do the s off procedure, then turn s back to on,as the s off process resets the lock flag,Making you "locked" again :)

Thanks Scotty. I figured as much. I guess I'll have to decide if it's worth the chance of my screwing it up via software versus a known hardware issue. I just don't know how picky they will be about warranty.

wish i had a better answer for you than that. for what its worth, the jpbear method is really not that hard to achieve s off. then turning s on is even easier :)

my personal thots are that its not too big a deal to further screw up a device youre sending back anyway for legitimate reasons,if something were to happen. youll have to decide for yourself what your own comfort levels are :)

Ok... I have the steps for the s-off that you posted from Unlimited IO. Before I begin do you have a link to or directions for getting it back to s-on afterward?

Thanks again

Hmmmm I followed JuopunutBears instructions on the Unlimited IO page. I had to use a laptop I had sitting around that had win7 32 bit as all my others are on 64bit. Downloaded what he said. Followed the instructions and in the midst of it all it was erroring out telling me to check my device manager for adb drivers? It did not say anywhere in the instructions about adb drivers nor would I see the drivers in the device manager. Nothing I could do it just keeps cycling and searching for something. Had to abort and now I can get to the bootloader screen but that is about as far as it goes.

Ok... finally got it. Thank jbear for auto backup! I'm s-off. Downloading the latest RUU and will begin those steps to get it back to s-on.

Thanks for your help. If you don't hear from me again then it went all ok ;)

I'm back. Having an issue. So I downloaded the latest RUU. Renamed it PH98IMG.zip put it on the root of the SD and its not flashing when I boot into the bootloader. Any thoughts?

Here's what happens now when I boot into the bootloader. It comes up with a series of errors saying that there is no image! when doing it's checks. I also can't get into the recovery screen. Otherwise the phone boots up just fine outside the bootloader. Still would like to get this thing to show s-on.

Done and Done. It looks like a factory phone now. locked, s-on. Even did OTA updates. Thanks Scotty. I'm sure you get tired of answering the same thing over and over but I certainly appreciate you taking the time. Sometimes threads get too long to go through ever posting.

Just think... when the replacement comes tomorrow I get to go through it all again! You've given me peace of mind. I almost forgot what the phones look like from the factory. The ads are overwhelming.

I've come here for helpful tips for a while now. After following your guide yesterday Scotty and getting my Rezound unlocked, rooted and running CM10 I had to register just to say thanks. Your guide worked like a charm and I appreciate the effort you've put into it ;)

Got the replacement rezound today. Got it unlocked ok but it won't s-off using jbear's instructions. I also noticed it now says *tampered* above the unlock in black block. Didn't have that on my other phone. I'm thankful for all this but I wish there was a more solid way to do this stuff. Everything seems so precarious LOL

Ok.. so now I don't know what to do. It won't s-off via jbears stuff. And its stuck in Jbears world and won't rboot. How do I get it back?

Update: Never mind. After like 40 tries with several different wires I finally got the s-off!

So what's this CM10.1?

Hmmmm looks pretty cool. I don't see the Rezound listed though. Is it available for a Rezound on ICS?

I flashed Nil's Business rom and it's pretty nice.

youre right, the rezound is not officially supported.

i am running wildstang83's builds, wich are basically unmolested CM. you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113140

alot of folks are running(and very happy with) neo's infection rom, wich is modded and tweaked CM. you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070947

and theres a discussion here,a couple down:
