I have the Samsung Fascinate and my kids are constantly taking my phone and playing with it (without permission) so when I go to use it either I can't find it or the battery is dead. I have tried putting locks on the phone, the first of which was the preinstalled pattern one but my oldest son got past the codes within seconds. Then I tried various apps which either did not do what I need them to (lock the phone with a password or digital code) or they were not secure enough (my son discovered in minutes that the task bar at the top could be pulled down and the home button pushed and the lock could be bypassed that way). If anyone has any good suggestions on what I can use to solve my delimna, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Yeah honestly there are some pattern lock screen apps and widgets but just tell your kids not to play with your phone. Because frankly if you put something hardcore on their they might do more harm than good trying to get in. But as a mom or dad just putting your foot down should solve the issue easy peasy

Android Parental Control - might help although not really the way it was intended:
This app locks out certain application while leaving others accessible. It has basically 3 levels: Unlocked, Locked in Normal Mode, and Locked in Sandbox mode. I use this to allow kids to play games on my phone without having to worry about them accessing the market or messing anything up in the settings. So I have games in the Sandbox, most of my apps accessible in the Normal Locked Mode, and secure apps only available when completely unlocked.
For your use, you could do the opposite and place the games and stuff they like to play with in the locked area. You would still have instant access to the dialer & other apps you choose that the kids won't have any fun playing with (important to be able to answer calls without entering a complicated password while the phone is ringing). When you need access to the apps that they like to play with, you will need to enter your password to unlock.
