screen not turning on, any ideas?

I have a weird issue with my phone where it can sometimes freeze and the screen wont turn on. The phone is still switched on, and the button on the top of the phone turns the light on behind the home button etc, but the screen still doesnt turn on.

The phone will still ring, the led flashes, but I cant see anything on the screen, and because it doesnt turn on, I cant answer the call.

The only solution I have found is to pull the battery out and restart the phone.

This has only been happening in the last 2 months and its really annoying!

Has anyone else got or had this problem?
 
I had this problem this morning, I'm unlocked and unbranded running 2.29.405.5 from HTC. A battery pull sorted it and it hasn't done it since.
 
I dont know what causes it, but I think it has happened more often when the phone is plugged in. Doesnt seem many other people have this problem though!
 
Since I got my Desire last April I've had issues with the screen not coming on (even though the buttons light up). A swift smack of the screen and voila - it's on again! No idea what's wrong, someone has suggested it an issue with the SD card, but I don't care tbh. Might go to HTC about it but meh...
 
My phone started like this, then wouldn't display the screen at all. I had to send it back to get a new screen.
