Accessories Screen Protector / Invisible Shield?

After using the VZW ones for a bit, I can see where the no-fingerprint ones referenced above would be nice. Finger smudge is a good bit worse than on the plain glass.

I'll probably try those out whenever they're released.

I usually do a really bad job installing the Zagg screen protectors, but I put mine on last night and it looks awesome. Can't even tell it's on there. It's a little sticky but it's getting better andit doesn't affect use of the phone at all.

can someone please pm me a 50% off code for zagg.com? I am going to get an invisible shield regardless of the orange peal effect. I used one on my ipod touch and my voyager and couldn't be more happier except for the edges coming off slightly.

I put a zagg on my Incredible 2 days ago and am very happy with the result, not nearly as much orange peel effect as everyone is talking about and if there is any finger juice it wipes off very easy..What do you expect with a touch phone, no finger juice??? its bound to happen sometime, just wipe your hands before you go fingering your new phone all up. With a 50percent off code, for 10 bucks and a lifetime guarantee, you can't go wrong

Not sure if this is known already, but I got a response from the people at SGP regarding the Steinheil screen protector availability:

Hello,
Thank you for contacting SGP customer service.
We are expecting it to be back in stock by end of this week, if not by early next week.

If you have any more questions, please feel free contact our customer service department again at sgpstore.com@gmail.com. Thank you.

I'm liking my Zagg.. this is the first time I've used one, I'm a Steinheil fan, but since they don't have one for my Incredible yet, I am using this one. The orange peel effect isn't nearly as bad as I was fearing, but there is one small area that seems a bit more textured than other parts, I can feel it when my finger goes over it. It is a bit annoying, but nothing I can't live with.

If you're afraid of what you've been reading here about terrible orange peel and stickiness... it's NOT. Yes, it's not as smooth as glass to the touch, but it's pretty darn smooth. I noticed just a very slight "stickiness" to it the first few minutes I used it, but not anymore. I have either gotten used to it, or it has gotten conditioned.

When the screen is lit, it is perfectly clear-- there is no distortion. And I have a feeling I could slide this phone faced down on a paved hill and my screen would be very well protected and pristine. I have ZERO worries of ruining the screen with this thing on.

Now I did have it applied at Best Buy-- that may account for why mine has a better appearance than some of the others here that might have applied it themselves. I messed up my first one, so it was money down the drain. This time I felt it was worth it to have someone else put it on. If they messed up, they would get a new one and try again.

Oh, and one more thing to add... It REALLY helps with the finger print smear issue. Yes, I still get smudges, but they are barely noticeable and I can wipe them off very easily.. without having to use a microfiber cloth even. That alone makes it worth it to me.

So you can have someone at BB apply it for you?

I emailed SGP asking when it would be available and their reply was:
We are expecting it to be back in stock by end of this week, if not by early next week.
I'm not sure how carefully they read my message

I go the SGP e-mail the same time as everyone else, saying the exact same wording. I don't know how something that never existed can be "back in stock", nevertheless they seemed to have gotten the message that there is a lot of demand for this.

However, I signed up at Zagg and got a 40% off coupon, so I ended up using that. I tried an Invisible Shield years ago on my LG Chocolate and it worked pretty well. The edges started to peel every so slightly, but that was after some time and after being put in and removed from a case all the time. With the shell and holster combo I got from Verizon, that should help protect the edges.

I ordered a Best Skins Ever full body protector yesterday. I've had one of these on my 1st gen ipod touch for 3 years and it's just now starting to peel off one corner (and I'm pretty sure it was my own fault when I put it on). They do have a little bit of an orange peel feel, but it's barely noticeable for me. Other than that, it's extremely resistant. Best of all: the price. Regularly, the full body skin is $8!! Right now they have a special price for the Incredible because they just started selling it yesterday, so it costs $6. And only $1 to ship! Mine will be here in 7 days. Why are they so cheap? Because they don't ship it with any bells or whistles. It comes by itself in a regular envelope. You can read the installation instructions online, use your own microfiber cloth and a credit card instead of a squeegee.

dont know if anyone has posted pics of the SGP anti-fingerprint yet. I got mine in today and was bored so decided to take some pics

overall I like how the screen feels and the fact that the corners dont bubble up with the case (my old phantomskinz one did) but what I dont like is that there is a noticeable loss in clarity. The screen seems "cloudy" now (most noticeable in the last close-up crop, look at the facebook icon) I don't know if this goes away after a while but take that as you will.

I forgot I had auto brightness on. In those shots the screen was at about 60% brightness

Mine is extremely blurry/cloudy too. I emailed SGP. It is very noticeable. I can't live with it. I'm just waiting until I have something else to put on there before I take it off. Maybe i'll try the clear ones. I'm ok with the feel and love that there are no fingerprints but I seriously can't take the blur. Brightness is still ok though

How much is US shipping on the SGP Steinheil protectors? Can't tell since it's out of stock.

You get 1, not 2, right? I thought I saw someone post you get 2, but I don't see that referenced anywhere.

I can confirm that you definitely get 2 per pack. Shipping to WA State was something like 3.30 (though I bought an AF and a CC). Heard some people were charged as low as around 2.50.

has anybody used the skin from best skins ever? i use that on my BB but can't imagine it would be that great as a touch screen. been an incredible skin.

also, the full body skin from SGP is tempting, as i love full body skins, but does anybody know what type of screen cover it comes with, whether its anti-fingerprint or crystal clear.

i really hate that it comes with two sets....what if it sucks? $25 down the drain. thats why the best skins ever skin is so tempting

EDIT: forgot, crystal clear and anti-glare would probably be most important for me. when wearing sunglasses (polarized costa del mars w/ the 580 lens) i couldn't see my friends Inc screen at all.

thanks for the pix! i was expecting the blurred outcome based upon the AF that my friends have on their iphones. i guess its just the nature of the AF.

i have the AF AND the crystal clear coming in the next couple of days. i'll install one on my inc and one on my wife's inc and take side-by-side pix.

Ready a lot of reviews and finally I ordered the Phantom Skinz full body kit for my Inc. The screen protector piece went on easily (about 2 mins and done) with no bubble issues, dried fully within a few hours (yes, you have to get the decal wet, so be careful not to drip on your phone... ). The screen looks just as vibrant and clear as w/out the protector. No sticky issues, no off colors, less glare too... slides just as easily with same sensitivity. Although I got the regular clear protector, I feel like it's a lot more fingerprint resistant then actual screen. So overall, I give the screen protector an A+ for application and usability....

Now the rest of the body kit, side strips, and multiple back panel pieces is a whole different story. I spent nearly two hours trying to get all those tiny decal to attach properly and after letting them dry overnight, they were still peeling off around the edges (especially around the parts where the backplate slopes down/up... ). Also, if you have any intention of putting a hard case or silicon skin on your Inc... these are pointless...the case will forcefully peel them right off... so save your money and just get the screen protector... works great! If you have questions about it, I'll be happy to answer...

I installed a Phantom Skinz on my Inc and I know exactly what you mean by the corners bubbling up with a hard silicon case on (red honeycomb one from VZW) ... but honestly, I think it is my own fault for putting the screen protector on just a bit off center... which causes the case to push at the edge of the skin... user error... can't blame the skin.

Maybe when you installed your second skin, you did a better job since it wasn't your first ;-)....

haven't installed the CC on my wife's inc yet.

my initial thoughts on the AF.
- i like how its cut just short of the edges. i have the VZW gradient case and the AF is barely narrow enough to avoid the case rubbing on the sides. there is some overlap on the corners, so we'll see how that works out.
- application was easy. no steamy bathroom. just a small piece of scotch tape for the dust.
- i must have greasy fingers cause there are smudge marks on the AF.
- i equate the clarity of the AF to having a screen with (ironically) fingerprints/smudges on it. if you spend a lot of time on your INC, i could see how the fuzziness could cause eye strain.

Hey all.. just joined the forum. So awesome to have this community talking about the incredible haha.

Anyway..

I've read through all these screen protector posts, and I've noticed that no one has mentioned Skinomi TechSkin - Gadget and Cell Phone Screen Protectors, Skins, Cases, Shields, Covers

I had a screen protector from them for my Palm Pre, before I switched to the HTC Incredible.

It works on the same principle as the zagg shields, with the spray solution. And it works quite well. The "tackyness" only lasts for a few days and then goes away.

And skinomi has a lifetime warranty beleive it or not.

I read a review on amazon that this guy wrote saying that he managed to get some dust/lint under the screen protector during installation. He called skinomi, told them his "problem" and they immediately sent him out another one to retry.

Amazon sells the protector for $1 cheaper and free shipping..

Amazon.com: Skinomi TechSkin - Invisible Screen Protector Shield for HTC Droid Incredible + LIFETIME REPLACEMENTS:…

Probably the best deal out of all the protectors imo.

The Steinheil really does look great, but their return policy sucks compared to skinomis'.
:)

This is one of those things that's going to be high subjective.

Personally, I ordered a shield, Although I plan on using the phone for a couple days to get a feel for it. Then I'll probably put the shield on and use it for a couple days, then decide to leave it on or not.

if you sign up for a ipad(free), and get lucky you'll get a code for 50% off (it varies between 10%-50%. I got the 50% and it was 10.37 total after S+H.

Personally I've read some people don't like the "wet" application method. I haven't used it, but I have had trouble with "dry" applied ones that, you basically get one shot to get it lined up and I've always had bubbles. I'm hoping this prevents those issues...

I have used the Zagg for so many of my devices. The "chocolate" phone, PSP, Ipod touch, Iphone, Blackkberry Curve. I have never had a problem with a "sticky" feel. The Zagg is quality and not like those cheap protectors out there. The "wet" application has never been an issue. You can try many times to line it up and work out the bubbles. Already ordered mine for the Incredible!
