screen protector useless?

Well when i got my phone i made the mistake of getting a screen protector put on. It makes the screen look like crap. Am I really protecting anything? People say the screen is tough and doesnt scratch. Anyone have bad scratches on their unprotected screen?

I have not had any protection since day one, and have not CAUGHT any scratches at all. I carry it in my pocket all the time also. :D

I use to put a screen protector on the back of my old iPod cuz that actually scratched easy, but this is Gorilla glass...it's tough :P

agreed... I went through multiple screen protectors and none of them satisfied me...all felt like there was something on there. Have been naked for a few weeks now and will never use one again.

I'm way to anal to go naked, lol :) if I got a scratch it would bother me to the point of losing sleep at night... That being said, I bought the realook brand off of amazon and its super glossy and smooth, covers the whole screen. I don't even notice it and its great! Super easy application too! I'd link it for you but I'm using my phone:)

I have the zagg sheild and while it does offer scratch protection it does not fully protect the screen. My screen cracked on monday and i sit here phoneless while UPS has my new one in a truck somewhere on the highway right now!!!! GRRRRR!

Im goint to leave that one alone since this is a family friendly site and I dont wanna scolding from Frisco or OMJ.

Bottom Line if you wanna use a case or screen protector use it, no harm [IMO no benefit] but hey its everyones individual prerogative

wow just took the protector off. Great move! the screen feels amazing and the picture is just so much more crisp.

+1. I've not used one on mine, but a co-worker carries her Fascinate in her purse among keys and all the junk.. I mean stuff ladies carry in their purses, and she had a screen protector film in place for several weeks, then removed it a while back with no issues at all.

Yeah the gorilla glass is really smooth. About the only time Im not sliding and gliding is right after washing my hands since the natural oil is reduced momentarily

I have the same screen protector also. I really like it. I was naked at first but the oil streaks from my monkey face, especially where the phone was up against my ear was driving me BANANAS. With the screen protector I just use my jeans to wipe it clean. :D:D

I just got my SF today, and have ordered a Otterbox Defender for it, how does the included screen protector look/work for anyone who has tried that one.

I had an otterbox on my Eris since I got it a year ago and the phone still looks brand new.

So I had to get a new phone sent to me cause of a problem receiving calls. Before i took it back I wanted to see if I could scratch the screen. The only thing that scratched it a little was a razor blade. But unless you really look for it you cant see it.

I use a zagg protector. I am rough phones, I take great care of them to the best of my ability. I work in a materials lab it gets banged around in my pocket by steel bars and such. When I mountain bike it goes in my camel back and sometimes accidents happen. And I have a 2 year old.

The way I see it is the protector may not stop all scratches but just like ballistic oakleys for eyes, it will limit the damage from a good impact. My oakleys saved my eyes twice!!

The glass will scratch, especially if you are a girl who tosses it in her purse. I've seen it happen, within 2 weeks of getting a new phone.

No glare, no "muting" of the colors or clarity, just clean, simple screen protection that's almost impossible to tell there's even anything on there. At $7 for a skin that usually lasts 1-2 years (longer than most phones) it's a no-brainer for me!

I've been very happy with the REALOOK screen protector I bought from Amazon. $11 for a 2-pack. Perfectly clear, doesn't interfere with function, covers the whole screen except for the ear piece. Can't even tell it's on.

I dropped\my kid knocked mine out of my hand in a parking lot about 3 hours after I got it and of course it landed FACE DOWN!!!! I stood there and just looked at it, on the ground for about 20 seconds and every thought about how angry I was to wow, did that just happen went through my head and as I was bending over to pick it up I was thinking how upset I was going to be to have to look at a scratch(s)\crack for the next 2 years. And it wasn't one of those hit on a corner and slightly roll over on the front screen, it hit at an angled trajectory, landed right on the face and slid 2 feet easily. There were NO dings in the casing at all and not a one scratch\blemish what so ever!!! I received my Seidio screen protector in the mail the next day. 2 for $12.00(mine and wifes) and they're warranted - no issues to date.

Wow- just revisiting that right now reminded me of how stressed I was at that moment. :p

the first day I had my phone I put it in my pocket like I did with my old phone. Instantly took it out but it already got a few scratches from the keys.
I ordered the Zagg screen protector, and when I put it on the scratches were no longer visible at all and the screen still looks great! A few times since that I've dropped it and had some tiny stones & sand stuck to the protector or got some scratches on it but they buff right out and it still looks like new. Was even able to carefully remove it from one phone and place it on another when I got a replacement! Didn't think that would work but it did!
