Root Screen Video Recorder

jage

Newbie
ShootMe is no longer on the market. Too many trolls and the developer pulled it. Since I've got a rootedVirgin Mobile LGE LG-VM670 I went and got the .apk for version 0.8.1 (ShootMe_0.8.1.apk)

Installed and there is no option for Continuous Screencast. Basically Prefs>Working Mode has only Acceleration and Audio, not Light or Continuous. It also never asked for root access (?)

So in looking for alternatives many people said "Screencast Video Recorder" but the market says it's incompatible with my phone (both paid and Demo versions)

So... I'm rooted and running BACKside Cyanogen, Optimus V, want to do video capture of the phone... what do? Another app, or can I do something with one of these?

Thanks, it is not on Amazon apps, but I mean I can probably find the apk for Screencast Video Recorder. Is the compatibility check wrong, or is it "try at your own risk"?

Have you looked in the All Things Root Guide? Droid@Screen will allow you to see your phone's screen on your PC. You don't need any app on your phone. You just need ADB and Java 6 on your PC.
Debut Video Capture Software will allow you to record your PC screen and any audio.

Well, I plan to use it for two reasons. First off, I think it would be cool to post YouTube video previews of my theme. Secondly I have recorded video of my kids on my phone.

1) Point being, wouldn't it be easier to just record the theme video or screenshots without the PC?
see: How To Capture Screenshots & Record Video On Android Using ShootMe - YouTube start about 1:58 to skip screen capping and direct to video.
that is what I want.

2) you're going to re-record the video playing on the phone with the PC video recorder? Why not just copy the movie file directly from the SD card?

1) Of course it would be easier to skip the pc, but that way I could edit the footage as well.

2) Wasn't thinking, too much blood in my caffeine stream.

You can edit the footage on your phone... you can upload to youtube from your phone... but why are we arguing? You could go the whole OTHER way, ditch the phone entire and just run ( and record ) an emulator. Or get a nice video camera and a tri-pod. Hire a hand model to operate the phone.

None of which has anything to do with what I want to do, which is capture video of the screen on my phone, with my phone.
