Root Screen wont turn on!

For some odd reason the phone just stopped working entirely.

I've been reluctant to call it in because I haven't SBF'd yet. I did have a chance but my phone was still @ 40%, and I know how it isn't safe to do an SBF unless you have at least an 80% battery life.
During then, my screen (the touch not its visibility) was still working. So it made it some what easier to work on.

The next day I connected it and used ADB (ddms tool) to map myself around. I tried last night and today and nothing seems to work anymore. I've tried charging my phone up .. and it just gets hot. REAL hot. I'd say @ approx. 109 or above degrees.

What I'm really worried about now are my personal things on my sd card. I have an SD card reader somewhere around the house so I do hope I find that.

But I guess I won't even be able to SBF this anymore. Both Steven and I have been very busy so it was real hard to get something working out, however I HIGHLY respect and admire him for offering the help.

If I send my phone in like this, is there a chance they might send it back? I'm scared guys. What do? This is my first android phone and I really tried my best to take care of it. I should have got insurance, but for some reason something told me I'd be careful enough with it that it'd be okay. Thank God for its warranty.

tl;dr.
Near 0% chance of being able to SBF. If I send it in will I be alright?

I sent in a rooted eris, and two rooted droid originals, never have they said a thing or rejected any of my phones. I don't think you have much to worry about.

Eris-tried to make an emergency phone call and the phone lag wouldn't let me.
1st droid-headphone jack stopped working
2nd droid-phone screen died like yours.

I have also had custom boot animations on all phones and I think one of them I replaced the M when booting.

Thanks man. I'll go ahead and claim my phone tomorrow. Do you think they'll let me keep my SD card?

Do I also have to give them the original box it came with? Because my girlfriend threw it away a couple of weeks ago. :(

Thanks for your stories Darkside. I'm running custom roms and a custom logo. I'm sure I should be good. Thanks again to everyone's help and concern. I'll let everyone know what happens afterwards.

When you send in a defective phone the only thing you send in is is the phone, you keep all the cords, batteries, sd card, and the battery cover, when they send a replacement, it's is just the phone and nothing else, do make sure you strip all those things before sending it back.

They also include a box that you put your phone in when sending it back.all they want is the phone, they aren't interested in any accessories or anything lot like they that.

The card is yours. It is included in the price of the phone. About the box I'm not sure.

If I remember correctly through T-mobile at least when I was with them a few years ago, they would send you the phone in a box, you then swap out all of your stuff and put your old phone back in the box to ship back to them. Not sure if Verizon works the same way but I would imagine they do.

I just received my replacement phone and as Darkside and ABRM mentioned; I have to swap out everything including the battery cover.

I'm grateful for my new phone and I probably will be a little reluctant to root it and flash everything. I'll wait about a week before I start getting into it again.

I shall send my phone out tomorrow and the Verizon reps were extremely nice and I don't think I'd ever go to another carrier based on my previous experiences with them.

Thank you for everyone's concern, especially Steven for trying to be there. (I SEE YOU STEVEN!!) Thanks guys!

Glad it worked out for you, bro. Understand that your issue was a fluke. I've never heard of the screen dying as a result of roms/rooting. Don't be shy, but i understand your concerns.

Yeah man. I'm real curious as to how it might have happened. Maybe the screen just died out? Idk.

I was on the phone ALL THE TIME. More than on my computer. I prefer being on the phone because of its mobility. I don't have to have something on my lap all the damn time.

So it's only been a few hours of playing with it, and I'm already anxious as to how far it might overclock and what its potentials are. I also like how the buttons aren't loose. When I got my first DroidX I instantly realized how loose the menu buttons were and how they'd kind of jiggle.

Anyways. Thanks again.

They probably wipe them without even booting them up. Would take too much time to inspect each phone. Not saying they couldn't, just that it's not likely they have that much time.
